Trunk Release: aftermarket actuator for 06 Si
Hey guys, my new Si doesn't come with a remote trunk release or alarm. I want to buy a Compustar alarm and get an hook up an aftermarket actuator to allow keyless remote trunk release. What products should I get / what are recommended to do such a job?
Cheers, Rob |

I'd start by goin to your local best buy or circuit city. suprisingly they usually have some pretty knowledgeable people working there. If that doens't work I'd try and talk to a local audio/electronics shop see what they have to say. BTW I thought that all of the Si's came with the remote trunk release. Does yours have the key that is integrated into the remote?

EX and SI's in Canada unfortunatly doesn't have the remote trunk release or alarm like the Civic in the United States. They get black interior though! I want a White EX with Black interior!! or even a Black Ex with Black interior!! The EX and Si doesn't even have a Navi option in Canada. Guess they think Canadians can find there way around better

It has the panic alarm on the remote, not the actual alarm triggered by entruders. And you can release the trunk by inside - not by the remote. |

i dont know why you are disagree with me, did you look at the link , its right off honda.ca , i live in ontario, and i just saw another one that got delivered(not mine) to a dealer with the trunk release option built in, maybe you should go talk to your dealer to see why it doesnt have that feature, not trying to be a dick but thats the second one that has had it, brand new, not even delievered yet...

I have checked my canadian ex and it has power to the trunk latch. I have asked my dealer if i bought 2 keys from the us could he program them for me. He actually thought that it was a good idea and said that the trunk release might work. It's probably a $50 expirement but it would be cool if it worked since i have a coupe and i use the trunk all the time.

Just an update my keys should be in this week and I bought the factory service manual. After looking at the manual I have concluded that the trunk latch doesn't have the power I thought it had but I did find where the power need to come. My next test is to get the Accord key I bought from ebay programed (they don't have the same fcc numbers but they run on the same freq. range) and see if there is power when I hit the trunk button. If this work I'll see if Honda ran the wire (the manual said its green) to the trunk if not I'll run a wire myself. If all goes according to plan and everything works I install a aftermarket solenoid in the trunk. I would buy the Honda one from the US but I seams that trunks latch and the key cylinder are connected in the US EXs and I can buy a solenoid locally for $20. I'll keep you guys updated and I'll try to take some pics of a DIY.
