I don't think the PS3 will do well :-|
The disadvantages are numerous.
PS3 - $500-$600, games $60 Wii - $250, games $50 Xbox 360 - $300-400, games $50-60 For one, the PS3 has a ridiculous pricetag. I'd rather buy one of the other consoles and a few games for $500. And the Xbox has been out for a while, and has a number of games already out, so to my reasoning the PS3 has lost a some potential buyers because of that. Personally, I still want the Xbox 360 (still haven't gotten it because I wanna get the magnaflow catback, which is about the price of a 360 after tax). Yes, some PS3's are being sold for thousands of dollars on eBay and elsewhere, but do y'all think it'll be able to compete well with the cheaper 360 and much cheaper Wii? |

i think that it is priced very well for what you get. A blu-ray player goes for ~$1000.00, bluetooth, wifi, graphics are sweet. I'll wait until GranTurismo HD ships and then the PS3 is a 'must have' item for me. Backward compatable w/ PS2 and PSX games.
Oh and no FIRMWARE upgrade required to play with your new system.

well xbox has a solution to the blu-ray capability of the ps3. they are adding a HD-DVD drive to their accessory list. It's USB or Firewire connection that only costs 199. That's not bad considering you would have to pay more than that for a HD-DVD player only. For 200 bucks, you can watch HD-DVDs and play your games with the 360. Not sure if anyone else knew this, but Microsoft said that they will also allow xbox live members download HD quality movies onto their 360s for a small rental fee. Just thought I'd share...

You can't really compare the PS3 to the X360 yet. One's a market master, and has only been out for 3 days, and one has been aggressively seeking market share (hence the price and early release) and has achieved the rewards economies of scale in production already.
Give the PS3 til after Christmas, and then start making some comparison. IMHO, a product that comes rushed and lowers its price lowers its brand image. Plus people don't trust M$. In terms of the Wii, I don't know if you can use the controller in normal mode, because as fun as it is being interactive with the games, video gamers for the most part, just wanna sit down when they play. Who wants to always be moving for the game? Just think of those gun/shooter games, or bat/baseball or even sword/ninja games that you see in older arcades. Nobody plays them as much as the "tappers". I'm still waiting for the days that games become more cross platform. Ie. I would like to play zelda, but i'm not gonna buy a Wii. I want to play FF games but I'm not gonna buy a PS3 just for 1 game out now, and Xbox might have Shenmue 3 but who knows. |

I think the PS3 is gonna do awesome. I haven't played it yet though because people surprised me by sitting outside of fry's for like 3 days. For the 360, I went up there 8pm the night before and was 8th in line. They opened at 8am. I wonder why there weren't as many people waiting for the 360? Oh yeah, cuz MICROSOFT SUCKS!!!!
Sorry, that comment was pretty biased. I have always been a Playstation fan. When I played Madden on PS2 and XBOX, it always played better on the PS2. That's why all the Madden tourney's are on PS2. My friend who was all about XBOX is now wanting to get his hands on a PS3. It's not just a bunch of hype. I think it's going to win the "Console Wars". If I could take two days off of work, I probably would have been one of those guys sitting in line for two days since I was stupid enough to not pre-order mine. On a lighter note, did you guys see that video on break.com of someone who bought a PS3 and then went outside and, in front of the line of people, smashed it with a sledgehammer in the middle of downtown? That's what the description said. I couldn't get the video to load though. If that's true, that's like throwing away $5000. Please, if someone finds that video and it works, post it. |

I agree Ive played one to its nice but not that nice another thing is Id rather have a Wii then an Xbox then the ps3 for this reason Wii is made for multi player games alot of them Xbox has half and half and PS3 doesnt have many at all... I like playing with my friends Im not a loser who sits at home by myself and plays games all the time... so Wii for me :) and its cheeper and looks alot more fun

That said, I agree that the PS3 is priced well for what you get, it is indeed a loaded powerhouse. I don't care. Look at it this way: Pretend I've owned sporty Civics for about a decade, building up quite the brand loyalty. Honda just released the '07 Si, and it's a $40,000 Boxster-killer. Okayyyy...thanks...yeah, it's an amazing product, but...I didn't WANT that! I can't really afford it, and it effectively shuts me out of a market I was very happy in. It's like Sony has kicked an entire market segment in the groin. I sneered at the DS as a Virtual-Boy-ish gimmick that would never succeed and was (along with the then-rumored Wii) a desperate attempt to cover for an inability to match MS/Sony horsepower. Nintendo made me eat crow, showing me that yes, they really were serious about this "gaming's as much about innovation as it is horsepower" thing. And now I wonder if Sony isn't treading the Atari path--they're in general financial distress, they can't get the PS3 units out the door in quantity, although losses are expected on console units they're (probably) losing more money on every PS3 than MS is (or they were with PS2), their launch titles aren't too exciting, and their behavior seems increasingly abusive to the consumer. Meanwhile, Nintendo apparently is profiting on each Wii, has (relatively) gobs of them available, and has a price that openly mocks the PS3's more-than-double tag. I favor the PS game portfolio and style, and wanted a PS3. But as it stands, I can't (and won't) pay that insult of a price, and I'm beginning to worry that not only might the Wii be more fun to play anyway, the PS3 might well crash and burn and take SCE with it. I hope I'm wrong, much as I was with Nintendo. |

Well Ps3's were dealt another blow as best buy reported 50% of their consoles they sold are experiencing problems such as over heating, the blue screen of death (yes its true) and complete system failure. People are refusiing to take them in tho becuase u cannot get a new one right now.
All the games that came out for the ps3 are getting bad reviews too. I got a 360 and lvoe it, and ill buy a ps3 later on, but ill wait for the problems to be fixed. |

I tried to wait in line for a PS3.......failure. Then I tried to wait in line for a Wii.......failure (much bigger lineups than PS3). WTF is going on? These people should wait for a while before they buy these systems.....and let me get one on launch day

Details, man! I want details!! Anything to help me feel better about not buying a PS3!!! Seriously, though, link? Some of those sites that always dissect new consoles right after they're released, perhaps? I'd love to read more about how Sony failed to learn from MS's 360-overheating debacle.

It is SO funny how every one likes to bash Microsoft and say how they "Suck". Personally I don't use microsoft products because I use Linux.
But I hate to break it to you guys, Microsoft DOMINATES the computer market. You go buy a computer, what does it come pre-loaded with? Windows. Almost ALL corperate enviroments are Windows Server based (Utilizing Active Directory). Some utilize both Windows and Linux/Unix. All most all applications/games that are for the computer are for what platform?? Yea, WINDOWS. You guys should think before you write stuff like this. This is just one of my pet peeves so don't take it personal. Just like people who think that Apple invented the MP3 player or AOL is the "internet".
