i used to work for sprint out here in Cali as the Tech guy. I highly HIGHLY recommend you stay away from LG and Samsung phones. those phones were nothing but POS's...always broke, poor reception, bad charging ports, poor screen quality. Sanyo by far is the best for sprint. Nokia phones...well...they're Nokias..
hope that somewhat helps you. |

The Samsung A900 is not a bad phone what-so-ever. Samsung has come a long way since the N400 and those days. The A900 has as good of service as both the Katana and the 8400. LG is still a joke comparatively, but they've come a long way. I'd very seriously check out the A900.

Yeah....nextel uses a whole different type of system when it comes to actual "cell" service. They were number one in terms of direct connect in the country, but when it came to making cell calls...they sucked balls big time. It was one of the main reasons for the Sprint and nextel merger. Sprint wanted to utilize the direct connect service nextel offered and nextel wanted to use sprints cell towers to increase better servicability. Quote:
If you want just a cell phone, then I'd recommend the A900 aka The Blade...it's alright...but I'm not sure about their reliability...I can check with some of my old techs to see if they're having any issues with it. I left right around the time the Blade came out...so I didn't want to stick around and see what kind of issues they would have. If you're looking to use it more as a walkie talkie, then pretty much anyone of the Sanyo phones are good. The only issue that Sanyos had for a long time while I was working there was that the hinges on the flip phone would occassionally break...due to flipping the phone closed. I know Sanyo tried to "beef up" their hinges but when they did...kind of made them look ugly. Now IF you do go to Sprint, I highly recommend getting the Total Equipment Plan (TEP) for whatever phone you get. The main reason is that as a tech guy, we were instructed to take care of ALL customer issues when it came to phones. As long as the phone doesn't have any liquid damage, or physical abuse (ie. slamming the phone into the floor, signs of phone being dropped on the floor, etc.), the techs were instructed to fix the phone or replace it for FREE. If you don't have TEP, they will charge you parts and labor to fix, if it's not fixable...you're SOL. Anyways, sorry for the LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG reply back but hey want to help you make an informed decision. :) Last edited by calircr; 10-06-2006 at 10:32 AM. |

I guess you could say im somewhat of a cell phone junky...im the one who gets a new phone every 6 months cuz something else better comes out or i end up breaking them into a million peices. Ive had ALOT of cell phones over the last 5 years...probably well over a dozen different ones. The A900 that i had was a GREAT phone. Its housing is made out of aluminum and is quite durable. The features are FAR superior to the RAZR....the screen is super bright, clear and has amazing resolution. The sound quality is very good and the volume is fine although in speakerphone mode i did notice it was a little on the quiet side. Bluetooth worked great with it and never had any issues there. Check around on sprintusers.com...they have a forum that has TONS of realworld user info and reviews on most of sprints current phones and the A900 rates as pretty much their top pick for a modern day flip phone. I just upgraded to a PPC-6700 cuz i sent ALOT of text messages a month(last month i had over 10000) and the keyboard makes short work of typing out messages. Its a little spendy but its an amazing phone packed with some really great features!
