I didn't buy an iPod Nano

I got the Sandisk Sansa e270 6GB player instead. I've been wanting to replace my defunct iPod Mini for a while. The Sansa will also play movie files and also has a microSD memory card slot, which you can stick potentially up to an additional 2GB of songs, pictures, movies, or data files. It doesn't work with the iTunes store, but I don't use iTunes to purchase music anyway. I get my music from uh...umm...other places. I like how you can simply drag and drop files into the player instead of having to sync it through either iTunes or Windows Media Player (although you could use WMP to sync your files).

I just purchased it today at Amazon for $179.99. Free shipping, no tax (in California anyway) and there's a $15 mail-in rebate. Sweet. I'll let you know how I like it when I receive it next week.

Here's a picture of it (left) compared to the Nano:

That looks like an awesome player. I was thinking of buying one myself, in the next few paychecks...that way, I don't waste blank CDs on music every week! :)

Do they come in 30 or 60gb models? I'm just curious as to if this competes with the ipod video. I refuse to by an ipod as of right now - that's what I have my phone for :)
But if it comes in models with more memory I might just have to pick one of those up. Looks like a real nice player.

SanDisk doesn't make any 30 or 60 GB disk-based players. SanDisk is big on flash memory...that's their main business.

The next best thing to the Video iPod is Creative's Zen Vision:M. Right now it comes in a 30GB model. A 60GB model is rumored to be out soon. It's also rumored that the 60GB model will start at $300. That'll be great news because that means the ample 30GB version will be even cheaper! You can check out reviews on the Creative Zen Vision:M at Cnet: http://reviews.cnet.com/Creative_Zen...-31632697.html
The nice thing about the Vision:M is that it plays just about every other popular video format that the iPod doesn't play.

I own the Creative Zen Vision: M and it's amazingly awesome. The only think I hate is that EVERYTHING out there is for the trendy ipod. But the Creative has come out on top review after review. It's gonna be hard to knock over the ipod bandwagon...

iPod's should come with a fold out solar panel, at least then when your battery goes kapoot, you can still listen to music. :)

Ive got a sansa e 250 and I love it.

Only thing that sucks is with the fm transmitter to my car the sound is terrible.

If I could find an adaptor to my lx and delete the fm transmitter Id be happy.

If you have an LX coupe, then you already have an AUX input for your stereo. You can get a male-to-male mini-jack stereo cable and you're good to go.

If you have an LX sedan, then you can the the AUX input installed at the stealership.

You're talking about the Zune, right? I know there aren't many details on that yet, but I don't see how that's supposed to be the next big thing. Sure it has a large screen, but there are PMPs out there already that have even larger screens and can play MP3s. I'm curious to see how the whole Video iPod hype will unfold.

Screw Apple and the iPod!! I got my mp3 from Japan (not available in the US)...its the 'Qoolqee K7'. It only comes in 1Gig but it was worth it.

I think iPod Nano is great and fairly affordable. I hate buying music on Itunes so we usually download CDs from friends and share that way. Be careful downloading music via internet for free...people are still getting arrested and/or fined for that. Itunes is still much cheaper than buying CDs so I don't mind paying $10 for an Itunes album occasionally.

What's great about most non-Apple mp3 players is that the file names stay intact when you drag-and-drop files into the player. Have you ever tried to view the file names on your iPod? Ridiculamous!

I agree with Urge above. Becareful about stuff you download off the internet for free. Make sure you support your favorite artists by buying their CD or at least download from a reputable pay-site where they give a portion of the earnings back to the artist.

I read in the newspaper one day that Universal was in talks with spiralfrog.com to offer their catalog for free legitimate downloads. Yes, free. The catch is that the site is ad-supported. The downloads are also ad-supported. Read more below:

http://www.examiner.com/a-254426~Uni...Downloads.html

I think this will revolutionize how music is distributed and how the record companies can still make money while offering its listeners free music. I'm all for it!
