"...I like how you can simply drag and drop files into the player instead of having to sync it through either iTunes or Windows Media Player..."

You were under the impression that iPods don't do this? You believed adding or subtracting files can only be done via the sync method? I hope you don't spread that misinformation any further. Drag and drop works with iPods, too, it always has. Sync is only one option.

Actually I was under the impression that you couldn't simply drag and drop files into the iPod. Thanks for the correction. I would try to do it on my iPod Mini but it doesn't keep a charge anymore.

I remember trying to drag and drop files from my iPod Mini to my other computer but couldn't find the file I wanted because the file names were changed when the files were placed on the iPod.

The 6 gb Sansa e200 series player has been out for a while. The 8 gb model is the new one. SanDisk is really trying to promote the Sansa with new "Made for Sansa" licensing. A lot of the iPod accessory makers are developing similar accessories for the Sansa players. That's great news for me!

benefits of drag & drop on iPod

"Actually I was under the impression that you couldn't simply drag and drop files into the iPod. Thanks for the correction. I would try to do it on my iPod Mini but it doesn't keep a charge anymore."

It's in preferences. The "default" is set to make it do the 'sync' routine, but you can easily turn that off. It has nothing to do with power, or holding a charge (unless your mini simply has used up its juice from constant use, understandable, batteries have a finite lifespan, but can be replaced) I recently set my preferences to do "manual" management of the songs on my iPod, I find it more convenient.

The default 'sync' method is good for keeping your iTunes library on your computer identical to the library on your iPod, but it can be bossy, it's nice to be able to turn that feature off, and manage the songs on my iPod manually instead.
