Haven't heard anything about them but for the price I'd buy it if I was looking at a drive.
If it's a piece of crap and ends up failing it'll probrably be the logic board inside and not the drive, so you'd be able to swap the internal laptop sized hard drive out into a desktop computer and get your crap off of it. |

I'm a computer technician, and have extensive knowledge about computer related products.
Anyways, if you are looking for a reliable portable hard drive that is well made, look into the Seagate FreeAgent Go drives. It costs $120 for a 160GB. Buy the Seagate 160GB FreeAgent Go Hard Drive and other Hard drives at circuitcity.com |

It's not that I'm completely agains externals that require independent power. My first external relied on external power. It was great for my desktop, but I just never really used it for my laptop (the reason I bought it) because it wasn't practical enough for me. Since then I've bought an external harddrive (the Seagate) and built one (bought a $12 case and used an old 120GB Seagate HD from a laptop), both 2.5" using USB power. They just get a lot more use and overall I'm a lot happier with them. |

hmm well then you could carry a fully charged UPS in your backpack!!!! Then you are only limited by the capacity of your batteries... I have three of them Daisy chained to my server/router/modem because I got a good deal on them and it nets Me about 4 hours of time...

I agree with Mitch. While a 3.5" is much cheaper, the "notebook" drives don't usually require external power. So, if you're using it for a notebook to store MP3's or something, it's the better way to go.
Me, I'm actually debating (really hard) to see if I should by a 2x eSATA enclosure and more hard drives. Seems like 900gb isn't QUITE enough for my needs. Or I'm just to lazy to burn stuff. LOLz. And no, it's not pr0n. It's worse. It's anime.

Sorta funny this thread popped up, as only two days ago, I went out to Best Buy and purchased a 130GB Western Digital hard drive. Mainly used it so I could backup my music/files/etc before reformatting my computer.
Needless to say, if your lookin for an external hard drive, go with Western Digital. I am satisfied with the one I bought, and the WD product is a solid investment. Last edited by TheBlueBomber; 06-19-2008 at 04:59 AM. |

He wants a portable HD, which means there's a good chance he wants it for a lapto (and probably doesn't have a firewire slot). USB 2.0 is plenty fast and more widely used.
