lol i hear ya...I waasking cause i used to have to bleed the breaks and for me it was a pain in the ass to do it.

Not bleeding the breaks makes everything much easier and cleaner.

i looked at my front the other day, getting prty low around 22k and i do alot of engine braking, ill prly use this DIY, suggestions on good pads for street use?

good pads:
Prostop ceramic (pep boys, they are in my car now)
EBC green/yellow/red stuff
Hawk
Brembo

try and go ceramic or sport semi metallic if possible
i chose ceramic cause i had to replace mine (still had some wear on them) at 28200.
I have HUGE hills i go down and they have to brake heavy
Despite what neone says tho, dont make the same mistake i did
DEF get the rotors resurfaced (i was told dont bother)
you can take them off and bring them to pepboys to get resurfaced (turned) for 20 bux or less
def worth it!

I bought some Hawks HPS for my 07 Si.

After taking out the stock pads, I realized that there are two shims attached to each of the inner and outer pads. Looking at the new pads, it appears to have the a single shim pre glued onto the back of the pad.

So my question is for those who have installed the this particular pad - Do the Hawks HPS pads need the OEM shim on top of the pre glued shim attached to the HPS pads?

I contacted a Hawks rep about my question and he said not to use the OEM shims.

I can wait to finally put them suckers in. I'll probably take Friday off to do so!

yea i never use the stock shims
they usually just cause noise lol

wow everyone is changing their pads so early

just did my fronts and i have alittle over 63k miles. I also do alot of mountain/ canyon driving. Got the hawk HPS pads and they feel great so far.

ur not braking hard enough if you are driving aggressively. you should be hitting ur brakes hard enough to be able to modulate them and prevent them from lighting up your tires, then getting right back on the gas.

i have 40k on my si now and its time to change the pads and rotors.... should i do the back too or is it ok not to? i know most of the braking comes from the front.

rear, no
u should not need to replace ur rotors, just drop em off at pepboys for an hour or two, they will resurface them for CHEAP
pick up a set of ceramic pads
either EBC, Prostop (pepboy brand), Hawk or Brembo suggested

we dont have pepboys here. and the reason i dont wanna resurface them is because the get cut down and warp faster. im getting slotted/ drilled rotors

Where do you but that assembly paste? Honda only or can I get it local? I just bought some Hawk pads and going to attempt to do this myself.
