they say the pads are supposed to last between 15-20k, so you're fine. my wear indicator on my front left pad went off at 22k for me in my fg1.

a brake job is very easy to do. I work with cars all the time and this is by far one of the easiest jobs to do. should take no more than 45 minutes for a rookie.
tips would be taking your time. and after you installed the pads remember to pump the brakes before you drive.
oh and the part where it says remove the retainers (A)... there is really no need to remove them and you risk loosening them up which can cause problems.

it takes specialized machines. i think you can go to pepboys, kragen, or autozone and they will resurface your rotors for you.

brake lathe. very easy to do. you put the rotor on the lathe and tighten it down, and set these two very sharp filing surfaces down as lightly as possible to the very inside of the rotor. then you flip the on switch and the assembly the rotor is mounted on slowly moves out while the rotor rotates. this shaves a very small amount of material off of the rotor, which files down any badly warped areas so that the surface is flat once again. takes about 15 minutes a rotor. the idea is to take off as little material as possible.

front brakes

When dong the front brakes, is it ok to compress the caliper piston back into possition w/o opening the bleed value. My concern is doing damage to ABS vaules in the ABS system if the fluid flows backwards?
Help.

yes it's fine. I do it at the track but it's only a little bit.. not all the way out to all the way back in.

Maybe someone can answer this a bit better, although when Moose and I were talking about it, this was what we both found worked and had no issues.

two ways
a) new rotors (get slotted, not drilled)
b) get them resurfaced at a shop!

ummmm i would do them yourself if possible, not too difficult
otherwise im not aware of too many shops in this area that will do it RIGHT
i know of a few further closer to Hartford lol
one or two in Manchester even (i go to Manchester Honda for oil changes and stuff like that, but just did the pads myself)

StopTech is a pretty good brand, so i heard, but never used them
Send me a link of the one on Corsport
did u check out other vendors on this site?

i think there's a good place in Shelton but ill double check with my bud
im sure there's GOT to be a good place in NHaven also lol

ill ask around, those kind of things i try to do myself :-P
**** i could prolly do em for you if u have a place

thanks, i think im going to go with oe replacement parts or brembo oe rotors (blanks). going to stick with oe pads as well. collegehillshonda has the oe stuff for under $200 for rotors and pads but im going to try to get my hands on some brembo blanks.

also going to do the job myself. i found a great DIY http://spoon.org/civic/DIY-Brakes/....it will save me lots of money so ill probably end up doing it this week.

well i would still consider something different that those
why?
cause they wore out sooo sooon
i just bought a set of Prostop ceramics from pepboys, considered pretty good for stock replacement pads (better friction, low to no dust, longer life)
ive used them on other cars
if anything
consider a set of EBC pads
like red or yellow stuff
and DEF get SLOTTED Brembo rotors
they are a bit pricy, but worth it
youll stop faster and the rotors are generallyy nicer
the stock or OEM pads are semi metallic, which is well known to pretty much SUCK!
