is it okay to loosen the nut on top of the damper with a socket ratchet instead of an allen wrench? my allen wrench got shredded when i tried to unscrew it.

Loosen the top nut while still in the car. Then finish unscrewing the nut when the complete damper is off the car with a socket wrench.

i exerted as much as strength as i could trying to loosen the top nut, but it just wont give. when you say loosen, how much do you mean? the nut stays put and wont budge; it just turns very slightly with the strut when i try to force it out.

Before doing anything, loosen the top nut when the DAMPER IS STILL ON THE CAR. I tried it by taking it out of the car first and it wouldn't budge either. I had to do it the hard way and stick it back into the car and loosen it that way.

yeah, im doing exactly that, and it wont move. does it make any difference if i use a socket wrench instead of an allen?

im questioning whether im even unscrewing it correctly since it isnt moving at all. counter-clockwise, right (right-tighty, left-loosey)?

Try using more leverage on the socket wrench. It worked pretty easy for me, and I'm 5'5 110lb kid. And yea counterclockwise to loosen

maybe i need to try it with a new set of tools. the ones im using are my neighbors and theyre a little old and squirrely.

Try a bigger wrench. Mines is a craftsman 3/8in foot-long:)

I had my S. Tech installed Last week and I have 1inch gap in the front and and 1/2inch gap in the rear. Shoud my springs settle some more in the front to match the back gap?

^^^no not the springs setting in, but the entire process of changing the springs, but i figured it out most people that did it themselves took 4-5 hours doing it

hey bro... what kind of car do u have? si or ex, lx, dx?

if u got the fg2 s-techs it wont drop that much... coz the fg2 has a heavier engine so it wont drop that much.. basically, spring rates are different for the si and the ex...

i had the same problem...

i have the tein ss springs as well..but the real of my car sits considerably higher then the front so i'm assuming the springs need to be twisted to sit differently..any way to gauge this when adjusting?
