how do you remove the rear rubber stopper?
How do you remove the rear rubber stopper thing that sits at the top of the rear shock? the one that is connected to the car itself, in which the rear shock rod goes through ? I have a feeling that is what is causing the squeeking in my skunk2 pro-C coilovers in the rear. Its getting very irritating. and I belive if I remove those rubber stoppers, coat them in waterproof lithium grease, and re install them, that they will cease to squeek. Problem is, is when I installed the pro-c's I attempted to remove them during that time, and I couldnt figure out how to do it.. anyone got any ideas?

so. I removed the rear shocks. What I did was I started with the bottom shock mount. I took the bolt out. coated it with lithium grease. coated the inside of the hole on the shock where the bolt goes. I coated the rubber bushing that is inside the shock mount. I also coated the metal brackets on the car where the shock goes into. I bolted that back up.
I then worked on the top. I screwed off the 2 nuts the hold the top of the shock on. I yanked the top rubber thing off. and pushed down on the bottom rubber thing and popped that out. I also pulled that long metal spacer out as well. I coated the rubber things with the lithium grease, and I coated the seats where the rubber things sit in as well. I coated the large metal washers as well. I also coated the long metal spacer as well. I put that all back together, and I tightened everything back up I took the car for a spin and so far, I seemed to have fixed the problem. I only went around the block. But in areas and bumps where I would normally hear the squeeking, I no longer heard them. I did hear 1 squeek. But that was at the begining of the drive, and that might have been everything seating back where it normally would be. So ill drive it around for the weekend and next week and ill post back up any good or bad results. If the squeeking continues, then ill move to the spring. And Ill coat the rubber hats with lithium grease, as well as the spring itself near the top and bottom where the spring makes contact with anything. |
