Skunk2 Pro-C Rear Squeeking..
Ok So I looked on here and people are saying the squeeking is because of the rear spring rubber seat. They say its not installed correctly and that its not seating properly, etc. etc. .. Well I checked mine. And mine are seated perfectly. I even went as far as spraying some wd40 to possibly lubricate/clean the rubber boot incase that was just making noise from rubbing against metal? idk. But that didnt work.
So Im still getting some gnarly squeeking coming from the rear. I would tell you when its occuring, but quite frankly, its random. It doesnt JUST do it going up a curb, and driving over bumps. It happens randomly doing all that. Even just driving normally on roads that are relativly smooth. Is there anywhere else I should be checking? Because the squeek is really annoying and I dont know where its coming from specifically and its frustrating. lol. Thanks in advance guys |

Hey budd dident you say you got into a accident a while back? Where you hit your rim against he curb?
If you did raise the rear side where you hit it right or left with the rim off and spin the rotor if it gets stiff at a certain point you busted your bearing. |

well thats bad lol .. ill check. Although I had my car inspected twice and it came up with no problems. But I never personally checked that.
Although, im passitive thats not the cause of the squeeking. its Not a squeek thats consistant with the speed of the car, just like a knocking noise would with the engine RPM when you blow a rod bearing. Not like that. Its a squeek that is consistantly the same in volume and speed ( amount of squeeks per minute? that kind of speed lol ) |

I was listening to it closely today, it almost sounds liquid. Kinda like when I mess around with my rc car shocks that are oil filled. And it makes a similar squeeking noise when the plastic piston in the shocks move through the oil. Could this be a similar issue with the rear shocks on the Pro-C's ? Ill call skunk2 tomorrow and see if I can get any answeres from them. If anything, I might just drive by their shop on a weekend and have them check it out.

I just got off the phone with skunk2. They said that this squeeking is the first time they have heard of it and there is no way to trouble shoot it over the phone. Which is reasonable. they are not open on weekends so I will not be able to take my car down there. but what they need, is for us to pinpoint where the noise is coming from. But by that point, we should be able to fix it, unless its a factory defect kind of thing. So. I guess we are SOL on this haha. Let me know what you uys find out after you tear your rear ends apart. No pun intended. ha |
