I know this is an old thread but I just received all of the sway bar parts today and have an appointment with my local shop to get them installed. Thanks to your write up and the helpful listing of all the parts, it was an easy process. I'll post up later with impressions.

Well, you are right...I LOVE IT. It's a big step up and the shop owner and I were comparing the bars before the swap. The SI bars are waaayy heavier. The front looks almost identical to the EX ones but they feel like they weigh twice as much. The rear looks bigger then the EX rears and weigh more as well.

Overall, the ride feels very sturdy, almost like a different car. Even my girlfriend can feel the difference when I take sharp turns. I used her as a test. She always braces herself and holds the passenger handles but this time when I took the turn, she noticed that she didn't feel like flying to the driver side, she felt less roll. It's nice that I have more sturdiness when taking on turns but I'm actually more excited about the way the ride feels. Almost feels as sturdy on the road as my girlfriend's 2006 Acura TL.

I don't know how to explain it but it's like prior to this, I felt that every time I went over large bumps or very bumpy roads, my car felt like a bunch of cheap plastic parts jangling around. Now, when I go over those bumps, the plastic jangling is noticeably reduced (almost gone) and the car feels less like a bunch of plastic parts and more solid (like a TL or TSX does). Very happy and it's a relatively cheap mod!

Now I feel like driving just for the sake of driving again (like when I first bought the car, or when I first got my Intake).

Cool Yogi, glad to hear it. My brother just got a 2007 LX Sedan, when I took a ride in his the difference was very noticeable.

tough to do (4 noobie)??

hiya guys,

i would like to do this same upgrade to my ex coupe, and am wondering how tough you found the install. this is a great writeup, but i notice some people chose to have their dealer install the parts (front and rear). im not a complete noob when it comes to DIY stuff like this (have done an intake before in my previous rsx), but close enough to wonder if i can handle it.

ive got all the parts, including the jacks, just wanted to see what you guys thought about the actual install. is it a simple unbolt/bolt-on process, or a bit more complicated?

thanks in advance...

If you're generally mechanically inclined, it's very straight forward. The only tricky part is the end link bolts which you have to hold with an allen wrench while you turn the nut. If you're not that comfortable with it, just find a friend who is and have them help.

Just remember to use Jack Stands, not just a jack when you're under the car.

Question

Hello, all! I was just reading this thread, because I was thinking about doin the same... Would it be worth it to get both front and rear Si sways or go with teh Progress rear as previously suggested? And how much did the Progress sway set you back, for those who have them?

Also, I noticed that the part numbers in:

don't exactly match up... I'm assuming that the parts would be listed under the Si's front knuckle and rear lower arm assemblies on the hondapartsdeals.com site. The parts still exist, but I was wondering if there was any difference between the ones in the pic and the ones that are listed now on the site... Thanks!

Front knuckle: Front

Rear lower arm: Rear

poizun... definitely do the front bar, then if you want a little more oversteer bias do the progress bar. I just put in the front and rear Si bars and it was a huge difference, I drove with just the rear first and it wasn't a huge difference. The problem with the choices is the rear civic Si bar is so cheap and drops in with no fuss (don't know the reputation on Progess fitment) that it was hard for me to justify the extra $100 or so for the progress bar. Honda OEM quality is a big plus for just going with the Si's smaller rear bar IMO. I think it might be overall a little more fun with the Progress bar though.

Thanks a lot for the info, Bun707. I think I will go with your advice, esp if the progress bar is an extra $100 lol Thanks again!

17 pages eh? I guess I'm going to have to go search for some sway bars for my sedan and see for myself from all of these testimonies ;D I might even go for SI struts/shocks/springs if I get bit by the impulse buying bug.

i finally got my parts from my dealer, and want to get cracking on installing them this weekend. does anyone know if there is a HOWTO or brief DIY that outlines the process, hopefully with pics?

I just got my Progress rear sway bar and Si front sway bar installed this weekend; wow, what a nice, relatively cheap upgrade! What everyone said about the car feeling "planted" and more stable is absolutely correct. I had to respond to this thread and thank everyone here, especially iVTEC, who started us off. I'd also read some stuff about how the front bar doesn't do much or that you shouldn't get it, but I just figured it couldn't hurt. I didn't get to test the handling w/ rear bar only, but I trust in everyone's opinions on this thread who did. Hopefully it was an actual performance effect adding both, and not just a psychological effect eh? Just kidding!

I had the progress 22mm rear sway bar in my old RSX and really enjoyed it. I think it's a true upgrade...not "just a psychological effect".

Good luck!

How come not use the Si rear as well? And where do you buy the progress bar? I must say with two small kids equaling about 150lbs riding in my back seat my car handles much better then with just me..........

Thanks.......

Well, the Si stock is 17mm, Progress is 22mm. And everyone raves about the Progress bar, so I decided to spend a little more for it. Not sure how much better the handling/cornering is between the two. As far as buying, Corsport is a great place to get them, Tai usually has good prices. And check the other forum sponsors too.

Is the stabilizer bar the same thing just different name as a sway bar? I have been told otherwise.
