iVTEC,
Now that you've had your swaybars on for a little while, have you noticed any issues with the front swaybar being larger and solid? I just got my swaybars and hardware yesterday and I'll probably have time to do the install this weekend on my LX sedan. Like you, it's just my everyday driver and I just want it to feel more sure-footed when veering around people that decide to randomly change lanes 1 foot in front of my bumper. |

Two for the front and two for the rear. If I am wrong please correct me guys. This is the list I have ready. |

Ok so I did the swap on my LX coupe and it took me about 1.5 hours to do the swap and would have been faster if I had access to a hoist .
I paid $171 cdn for the parts and all I can say is what a great inexpensive mod .The car is so much flater now in he corners and its a blast to drive ! As described before its very very noticeable and its like its on rails now .Just have to upgrade now to 19" wheels w/ sticky tires and I'm done . |

just finished installing front and rear si sways on my lx coupe.. first thoughts were corners are much more of a flat feel and and less understeer ,corners quicker.. the rear was not as easy as the front to install.. the nuts on the front came of with ease. great upgrade recommended! oh yea took 2 hours to install. 1 hour and 20 for the rear and about 35 for the front..took my time gettin dirty lol

Hi, I am a 2006 LX Sedan user. i came across this from my first post that this can improve my handling. Here is a few questions i need to ask:
1) Is there sway bars in Honda dealers? or do i have to order them? 2) I searched on sites on these bars. Each bars have different diameters, sizes and abilities. How do I know which one is good for my Sedan? 3) I also came across that these sway bars can be a pain in the butt if we go over speed bumps or rough roads.True or False? 4) Is these sway bars that is mention have a auto turn off when it meets bumpy roads? Thx in advance for the answers EDIT: Do these new cars (the 8th gen civics) have sway bars already? b/c if not, why don't Honda just add it in if it is better and safer? Can I ask if Honda Dealer installed these sway bars for me? b/c I don't want to DIY~ Last edited by Yman; 11-10-2006 at 01:46 AM. |

Sway bars are already installed. The Honda dealers do carry sway bars for each style of sedan. The SI are thr firmest and provide better handling. With any suspension being firmer speed bumps seem a little harder. No you can't just turn off the firmer suspension. I am sure they will install them, but it is really not the hard.

Note that all numbers used in the following example are made up and are only used to get my point across...they are not factual numbers from Honda. Example: Let's say that Honda can save $3 in manufacturing costs by using a thinner sway bar. If Honda can sell 500,000 Civics that use thinner sway bars each year, they save $1,500,000. That's enough money to hire 30 additional hard-working manufacturing line workers at the Honda of America Ohio plant to keep up the demand of fast selling Civic sedans. So does it make sense for Honda to install a thicker bar to please the 0.5% of Civic owners that care about that particular item? I don't think so. Does it make sense for Honda to save a bit of money so that they can invest it in hiring additional staff to increase output of more Civics? Yes! Because if more Civics are sold, that means more profit! |

well if you want to spend a ton of money go to honda and tell them you want the SI sway bars installed on your car. They are going to probably charge you $300 w/parts and labor. Or you can order the parts from a parts store online and do it yourself for half that.

I did the front and rear SI sway bar install a couple of weeks ago on my DX-G sedan, and I would never go back to stock. Handling improved 200%; it feels like a real car now (no more floaty cloud...); pretty much the same experience as others on this forum.
I spent more money buying good jack-stands and a good hydraulic jack than the parts (and yes, stay away from Canadian "stealerships" unless you want to pay twice the American price). My next project is to install the full Si coupe suspension on the car (arriving in a week hopefully). Once I got my hands dirty in the sway bar install, I am iching to do the suspension. NOW FOR THE QUESTION: the front sway bar end links. On one web site (hondapartdeals.com), they list the links as the same part # for the Si coupe, as the sedans. On another site (I can't remember which one now), they list two different parts (different part #s). I left the old ones on my sedan, and they seem to fit fine. Can anyone shed some light on this? Is there really special front sway bar end links for the Si Coupe? If I'm not racing or rallying (!), would I even need beefier end links? Would the stock sedan end links do the trick? Thanks, -Mike |
