Question suspension upgrade help

Hey guys, I'm a noob and I need your guidance. I want to upgrade my stock suspension on my FA5 but don't know which direction to go. I just want my ride to feel smoother, and improve handeling. I don't really care for dropping it. Even though a lil drop here n there would probably improve handeling. My co worker was telling me about some h&r springs or coilovers. Here's another noob question, what are coilovers exactly? Thanks in advance for your help.

HFP sounds like your best best, it will tighten up the ride a little, but keep it pretty smooth. It will drop it about 1 inch.

Define smoother? Do you thinkt he stock suspension is too "harsh"? If so I am not sure aftermarket suspension is going to help, especially if you also want improved performanced. Most aftermarket suspension will be firmer, this includes HFP. Your definition of smooth is critical here. Most aftermarket suspension that perform the best are not going to be friendly on the streets.

i think he means similar to stock, still a nice ride but not too harsh, but like shingles said that really will be key, i think the least tight would be the hfp without a harsh drop to tighten it too much, that or if you actually want smoother im not even sure buying one of the few available shocks at this time would be much help

HFP is probably your best bet. It's fairly inexpensive (considering it's struts and springs, it's quite a deal actually), will give you improved handling, about a 0.8-1.0" drop (varying reports), and alot of people have said it feels the same as stock or even better in terms of ride quality.

When (or IF) Koni introduces an insert for their FSD model dampers (shocks) buy those. Anything else is geared for performance and will make the ride a little harsher, not smoother. Retain stock springs also if you want to retain ride quality.

So pretty much every aftermarket spring/strut kit is not street friendly? What I meant by smooth was, I didn't want to feel every nook and cranny on the road. I frequently drive mountain roads so I'm looking for something that will help me take the those twisties with ease.

Redshift Koni Sports would be a good be also. They have less compression damping than stock for a smoother ride and more rebound damping for better hanlding. Pair those with some Eibach Pro springs and you will be golden.
