there are no front sways for our cars. The progress (not progressive) rear bar is an excellent upgrade. It reduces tons of under steer, and made me a much more confident driver. If you have an Si you can swap out for the smaller Ex or Lx front sway bar which will help even more.

OE Front Sways:
4DR DX, LX, EX: 24.2mm 2DR DX, LX, EX: 25.4mm 4DR Si: 27mm 2DR Si: 28mm OE Rear Sways: Non-Si: 10 or 11mm, not much difference really, mixed between 2DR and 4DR models as of 2008 Si: 17mm Mix and match to get what you want. You most definitely will need a larger rear sway. TypeR is 22mm as a reference. You 'can' go smaller in the front if you have an Si, but I wouldn't recommend going lower than 27mm. Anything less will numb your turn-in. -SWRT |

the problem is a bigger front sway will help turn in but after the initial turn in understeer increases, so I guess its a matter of finding a good balance. If I had the proper machinery I'd experiment making a bunch of different sized sway bars and take 2 or 3 to the track per track day and see which one gave me the best laps.

There is a fast way around a turn...Slow in Fast out. With that reasoning, smaller front bar wins.
Or even more ideally, no front bar and tune with springs and dampers. Thats a track setup cause your wheels rates would increase too much then for a street car. |

but then again, slightly higher spring rates in the front can help that responsiveness on turn-in as well. we must remember never to single out a single suspension attribute as the sole contributor to some aspect of the car's handling characteristics. ...and as HighRev has stated, the point is to be able to come out of a turn as quickly as possible -- and compensating for a slightly reduced turn-in response is not all that difficult or undesirable if you are then able to both turn tighter and carry more speed. |

i've had my progress bar since december and i drive it hard. no problems at all. the person who started the thread about the problem even admits that it happened during harsh weather and believes it could have been chunks of ice and road salts that obliterated it.

i bought one, but i think it is banging on my after market exhaust. i have a skunk2 700 catback and they are almost touching and then when i turn hard around corners there is a noise. i am not sure it i messed something up under the car by ripping around corners and also yanking on the e-brake, or if it's really just the exhaust hitting on the bar. i am going to find out by tomorrow once i can jack up the car again and put something in between them and make a test run of it.
