Bump Stop Question
I just bought some eibach sportline's for my Si and was debating on whether or not to cut the bump stop like it says to in the instructions. I also have 18" wheels with 40 wide tires. I know in the step by step, they didn't, so i was wondering is it completly necessary if im not going to be whipping around a 90* turn at 75mph.

Cut it down (even if you take a 1/3 ~ 1/2 off it). Though you may not be autocrossing, you may hit a bump mid-corner that would cause you to hit the bumpstop.
Here's why... My guess is that Honda has a progressive bumpstop (so the resulting story won't be as severe), but in the old days, they were not progressive and hitting them would be the equivalent of making the spring rate infinite... In other words immediate and extreme understeer or oversteer. I was co-driving a Camaro at an autocross once when I had this happen to me. I asked the owner what happened and he said we hit the bumpstop. |
