Hi Moose, u should try Endless CC-X or CC-R for ur next pads. To me, they are a big upgrade from HP+ that I was using previously. You might like them too over project Mu and HP+.

To me, surely the HP+ stops decently and is a big improvement over stock pads, but they squeel a lot throughout their entire lifespan and also eats my rotor like crazy. I tracked about maybe 4-6 times with them and those pads only lasted me about 6-7months, including winter.

The endless pads works great. I track on avg 3-4times a month and the CC-X handles it really well. The CCX pads never squeeled after i fully broken them in, friendly on the rotor, and they were awesome on the track too (much better than hp+). On the street, they are kinda overkill, but nothing beats being able to stop on a dime.

The CCR that im using right now are suppose to be an even more aggressive pad but still maintain it's DD function. On the track they are just awesome. A noticable improvement over CCX, and it also have a higher operating temperature so i can have more confidence in stepping on my brakes hard (i do like hardbrake/late braking when im racing or doing Time Attacks) without worrying about overheating my brakes(which i had an issue with in the past). In terms of pads life, it's still too early to tell so i will give u and update on it later when im done with them.

So in conclusion, if u are looking for a track worthy pads that can still be daily driven, these are just perfect, and are my recommendations.

Note : Pads, that I tracked with includes (In upgrade sequence), OEM < HFP < HP+ < Endless CC-X < Endless CC-R

ok i dont really feel like reading through 10 pages of posts but I was wondering if anyone has experience with the brake lines available for the Si? I'm looking at the corsport one but i don't really know much or have heard much about them. I'm down to try the other brands too just don't know which one is "good" and has a sleeve or whatever it is to keep the dust out of the braids. So if anyone with experience of any could chime in... :)

thanks

FYI - Based on some part number chasing it looks like the Si / EX rear rotor is the same as the 97-01 Prelude rear rotor ...

-Rotora Confirmed
-EBC confirmed
-Powerslot confirmed
-DBA Confirmed
-Stoptech confirmed

Sounds good...I might look into these pads! Where do you get them from? I couldn't seem to find them for the fg2.
If they are so much better like you say...you sure they're not corrosive to the rotors? I have Hawk HPS...not any good at all man. Feels exactly the same as OEM pads. lol

2006 Acura TSX Front Calipers / Rotors / Pads on a 2006 Civic Si Knuckle

2006 Acura TSX Front Calipers / Rotors / Pads on a 2006 Civic Si Knuckle

Brake Comparasin

Rotors:
Si Rotor 25mm thick (300mm diameter)
TSX rotor 28mm thick (300mm diamter) - 11% thicker
Noticably more rotor mass, and bigger cooling passages
Si Rotor Weighs 14.6# TSX rotor Weighs 15.2 #
Not alot more rotational inertia to overcome

Pads:
Si Pad (bottom)vs TSX Pad (Top)

Si Pad is 4.75cm x 10.03cm friction size, 47.6 cm2 surface area

TSX Pad is 5.1cm x 12.5cm friction area, 63.8 cm2 surface area - 26% larger

Caliper
Si Caliper(left) VS TSX caliper (Right)
Hard to see here .... but the TSX Caliper is so much more massive
Si Caliper weighs 6.8# + 2.9# for bracket = 9.7# total
TSX Caliper weighs 8.6# + 4# for the bracket = 12.6 # total

Bottom line WAY more thermal mass in the rotors, calipers, and pads to dissapate heat

Si Piston OD - 5.3 cm - Surface area 47.2 cm2 - piston surface area to pad surface area ratio 2.13:1
TSX Piston OD - 5.6 cm - Surface area 63.75 cm2 - Piston surface area to pas surface area ratio 2.6:1

^ awesome info! i'm assuming this is your upgrade that you're working on. question is, does it clear the Si wheels cause the TSX calipers are larger?

Moose, was it a direct bolt on replacement, or was there lots of modifying involved?

Should fit ... still a 300mm rotor

Thanks for the great info Moose. Did you just convert the front, or are you doing the back brakes as well? Sorry to re-ask the same question from earlier, but did the TSX brackets simply bolt up, as well as the calipers? One more thing, what did a set of TSX brakes run you?

I'm chalking that up to salty, Canadian winters. I wondered the same thing.

Just the fronts, the TSX rear brakes are essentially identical to the si (rotor size / pad/caliper) . The fronts are the most important ones to fix/deal with, the OE rears are fine with the correct pad compound.

EVERYTHING bolted up (Caliper bracket / Caliper / rotor/ pads) no mods, no machining, no BS - The only issue is the dustsheild - it needs to be trimmed a bit for clearance arround the caliper itself.

Under $500 CDN shipped bought me 2 remanufactured (by Cardone) OE (Nissin)TSX calipers, 2-OE Jobber TSX rotors, 1 set of TSX PBR ceramic pads. FYI - I get better than jobber pricing thru a contact of mine ... street prices may be higher. You can also save a couple of bucks by hitting the wrecker for a nice set used calipers / rotors/pads.

The Si Calipers are used, off a wrecked Si ... CDN winters kill them - the TSX Calipers in the picture are like new, rebuilt/remaufactured OE units from Cardone - thus they look new.

Yes - CDN winters are hell on the cars

As a note - Order the 2006 TSX Rotors/Calipers/Pads .... they changed in 08/09

Moose, as always, you provide invaluable info to the masses of the 8th. I wish I could still give you rep, but your bars would probably go off the screen.

Moose, will you be with Compass 360R again at VIR next year? I saw a picture from SEMA of the orange FA5 I imagine they'll be running next year, and it looked mighty hot.

I do not know ... Hopefully I will be crewing for them when my schedule allows.
