One thing you can do is go into you dealer and ask what part number are for the FN2 pads and rotors ... then have then look up similar / related cars to see if there is a match ... ie DC5 Integra, CRV, Civic Type R EP3 If you can find a match for a "kniwn" car then you can more easily find a comparable / compatible product Moose |

I 've been going nuts trying to find Brembo OE rotors for my '06 LX coupe. I did a search on many web sites for Brembo part# 25830 but can only find 25831 which is for RSX-S. The
'03-04 RSX base shows a different Brembo part#. Who sells Brembo OE front rotors for '06-08 Civics (10.8")? Has anyone been able to get them, or do we just order '02-05 RSX base rotors? Why won't Brembo just label the new Civic rotors and give them a new part#? It would make everyone's life a lot easier. Also where do you guys get your Hawk pads? I normally use importrp.com or Cobalt but Cobalt Friction but Cobalt is expensive lately because they want to sell their own pads. Do you guys get them cheap anywhere else? |

Thanks Moose for all the info. It's time for me to get new pads @ 42.5K mi. My rears are pretty low according to my dealership; I always thought the fronts would go out first. Well since I have to replace I might as well upgrade so now I am considering either the Axxis Ult or the Hawks HP+. I am leaning more towards the Axxis Ult's. I do not plan on doing much track they are mainly for quick stop n goes that you deal with normally in DD. What are the price differences and where is the best place to order these pads from? From a performance stand point which of these pads will last longer?

You give up some performance over the HP+ ...but they are cheaper, don't squeel when cold, and do not dust as much. Where to order from ...I could not tell you as I am from the Far North (Canada) The Life expectancy for PBR/Axis ... It is so hard to say ...probably better or equal to OE for the PBR's Moose |

How about for those of us that just want cool looking brakes. I'm not racing my car and I know the stock brakes are good enough but I want to add looks to my car. That sone reason many people like the slotted and drilled rotors and also why lots of people paint their calipers red. I'd like to get a nice aftermarket set thats not going to brake the bank and looks cool.

FastBrake isn't just a vendor? I mean it says "Fastbrake" under manufacturer but then the calipers say Wilwood as clear as day. Seem like a good deal, but it irks me that they're cross-drilled.

You get a discount from Brian if you get blank rotors...Yes he uses Wilwood calipers, but his brackets are custom to his kit. I decided to go with the bigger caliper kit from him, and of course I got the blank rotors as I know There a wear item

But what would be the diff in getting the regular Wilwood BBK and this Fastbrake one? Is the brake torque and consequently brake bias and balance different? Different quality?

Fastbrakes not only has the standard Wilwood kit, but he also offers his own swetup which include the larger 4 piston caliper setups, larger 13" rotor setups, 6 caliper setups.

moose, I have a question, in the world of honda's it is becoming ever more popular to switch calipers w/various models...example new tl-s brembo calipers...do you think these swaps are worthwhile for a streetcar...I know the full race set-ups like hirevs wilwoods are designed more to dissipate heat then reduce stopping distance, but the brembos designed for the tl are actually for stopping a heavier car, would this in turn reduce stopping distances?

In the old days when Honda Civic's came with pitiful brakes (9.5" fronts, drum rears ~ 88-00) then a upgrade to a 10.2" or 11" front with disk rears was a really nice option for street and track days. HOWEVER the 06+ Civic's come stock with pretty damn good brakes from the factory ... large enough for anthing but full on track events, soooo the only real help they need for the street is better pads/shoes. The ability to stop faster has little to do with the brakes ability to stop the car (the OE brakes can lock up the brakes/tires right now with ease) , and more to do with the tires grip (which is actually stopping the car) So in a nutshell ... NO ... buy a set of good pads (PBR/AXIS Ultimates for example) for $100 and some good fluid (RBF) for $20 and you will be fine. Take the money you saved and buy better rubber. The USDM 06-08 Si uses the same front pads as the RSX typeS and the S2000 - that is confirmed. If you "think" the S2000 pads also fit the FN2 then head to your Honda dealer parts counter and bring a couple bottles of Newcastle (or whatever) and ask if he can show you a set of FN2 and S2000 brake pads ...then compare them right there. Or call/contact EBC brakes which is a UK company and ask them ... if they do not know then you could probably fax/mail in a tracing of your FN-2 pads and then they could probably tell you what the pad matches to ...if any EBC Brakes - Home of the worlds largest range of brake products I do not have any loose pads sitting arround right now ... and it is to friggen cold to wade thru the snow and yank them off my car ... Like I said before ... as the FN2 is Europe/Asia specifc ALL the information on the car is going to be there ... Moose |
