Coilovers for under a grand. Which are best?

KSport, Megan Racing, Tein SS, Tein Basic, Buddy Club and Skunk2 coilovers can all be had for less than $1,000. Anyone have good experience with any of these coilover setups?

Any companies to avoid? The skunk2 coilovers are the cheapest ones listed. Im happy with their product quality but have never seen their coilovers anyone here have em?

From the stock photos provided Im trying to decide between the ksports and the buddy club. Both look better in terms of quality than the rest.

I will be using these coilovers to obtain around a 1" drop. For now I wont be doing any racing, just some spirited driving. I would like to be track (SCCA) ready though, I dont want to have to buy another suspension when I start racing.

I would never cut my springs.

I thought about doing the hfp setup but then Im stuck at the .75"-1" drop that the hfp kit provides. How well does that setup perform on the track? I dont want to spend $600 now on the hfp kit when coilovers are just a few hundred more.

They'll be more likely track ready than the coilovers, honestly. The spring rates and valving is matched to each other, so you'll benefit more from those.

Coilovers aren't the be all end all of suspension.

I've had them both and they both suck balls. Sorry. They are both scary unstable at the limit, the limits are just higher in the Flex's. Unstable on the street when trying to avoid an accedent situation is not my idea of alright

To answer the best coil over under a grand question

None. They all suck. They will all break at some point. Just get the HFP and call it a day. They will last as long as the stock pars will which is a lot longer than the after market parts.

the 06-08 the spring rate is 7k front 9k rear if u check the tein flex there 9k front 10k rear, the older cars were really stiff 92-00 are newer year cars are pritty soft not bad on the street. plus with ksport u could get a custom spring rate.....i have the ksport pro control coilovers there really not that stiff at all for coilovers....i have damper set 24 front outta 36, and 36 in rear and it rides not much stiffer than my tein stechs that i recently removed nd sold.

He plans on going to the track/autox. The dampers on the k-sports wouldn't really good for that according to the shock dynos for ksports on past applications.

Not to mention that thing you said about your powdercoat coming off on the rears is a bit worrying.. Are they going to STRAIGHT send you brand new rear springs? Or are you going to have to eat the shipping cost and send your old ones back in.
