Function Form Coilovers
So, after all the hype about function form, I decided to go with it.
heres the quick review about em fronts: cake. they were in and out, adjusting them were easy and there were no problems. rears: heres the problem... in this picture, you can see both F2 shock and spring in place. USUALLY, if you leave 3-4 threads left on it, you could get a nice 1 finger gap or a little more tucked. in this case, when we put the wheel on.. the gap was actually BIGGER than stock. stock = 2 1/2 fingers.. with the set up you see here = 3 1/2 fingers and almost 4. What's the deal? the spring is smaller than stock, the shock is smaller than stock.. i don't understand why it'd be BIGGER. ![]() so what we decided to do was take that whole perch out, and let the spring sit on the rubber mounts (both top and bottom), sorta like how stock springs sit, we put the wheel on and it's slammed like no tomorrow. ![]() so heres pics of the negative camber in the back, its ridiculous but i kinda like it. ![]() ![]() there is no finger gap, you gotta stick your finger in and then bend it to touch the top of the tire. so my question is... maybe those with F2 coils, or anyone with some insight... why is it that, even with the rear coilover at the LOWEST setting, gives a ride height which is higher than stock even though everything (spring and shock) is shorter than stock. How do I adjust it WITH the perch to make a lower setting? it doesn't make sense. is it bad to ride with such negative camber and on such a low height? I know the shocks will be fine because the shocks are meant to handle heights like this. any help would be appreciated! |

super late reply, but yeah, I bought the F2 coilovers too a few months before you and I had the same problem.
First off, the shop placed the perch below the spring so my car ended with a gigantic 3+ inch gap, which was rediculous. Then they decided to take off the perch completely which yeah, slammed the shit out of the car. Finally, we took off that second ring off the perch, and installed it correctly. I ended up with a 2ish finger gap. What happened with your's since? |

Ah, here is the deal.
No matter what combination you try to use with the springs, you won't get what you want. I went through the EXACT same thing. I was 4x4 like crazy and I didn't understand why. Then I took it off and i was slammed like no tomorrow, but it was sick hahahaha I left it like that for a bit then I was tired of it and decided to call up F2. They said they made the wrong spring, you have to tell them to send you their new set of springs to replace. As long as you filled out that warranty sheet that was included, then they should have you on file and they'll send it free of charge. I can slam it now, or can raise it like a 4x4. I'm sitting perfect now.

I just called F2, and the guy was clueless. I mentioned that you had called them and had the rear springs swapped out, but the guy told me that there hasn't been any instances of wrong springs being packaged. He did mention someone who had asked for ep3 coilovers for his fg and those got swapped out for the right ones.
What do you think? Maybe I'm just not talking to the right person. Do you remember who you had spoken to? Last edited by RiceBowL54; 07-24-2008 at 01:49 PM. |
