If the photo in this thread is correct:

P2R Power Package: Intake Manifold Gasket, TB Gasket and TB Spacer

the P2R spacer is illegal for STX. You can only modify the intake to the TB. It looks like the P2R goes between the TB and intake manifold. It does look like a trick piece though.
Crap. So I have to go street modified, or is there any class at all? At that point, I'd always be dead last... Time to order a stock spacer... sigh.

It would be legal for SP. The Si runs in DSP against the E36 BMWs. You would still get killed, but by not as much if you run SM.

Again, I always stress to people, before you mod a car, hell even before you buy a car, have a goal. If it involves a rule book of any kind, study it first. IMO, building a car to a ruleset is much more rewarding than just throwing bling on a car.

Well, I didn't exactly throw bling. I originally started modifying based on cost/benefit, then realized after the fact that I want to auto-x. Ah. What to do.

What about with the RedShift SC? Would it be a contender in that class?

Yeah, I'll just put back the stock gasket on and mod the suspension by summer.

Sigh.

Or you could keep it and race yourself in what ever class the car fits into.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to insult you. I was just pointing out that many people do mods to their cars without a specific goal in mind. I agree that the P2R spacer is a trick piece and under the right circumstance, and combo of parts, is a great mod. It's just not a good fit for STX.

In SM? No. Well, at least not nationally. It would be a lot of fun, but odds are a good EVO or WRX would eat it alive. Too heavy, too much power to the front wheels and then you still have to make it turn on a tight auto-x course.

Now if I were building a Time Attack car...

Solo2 is a whole other story though... the Si is a little bit tubby. Best mod is to sell it and buy a 4th or 5th gen! LOL

Bryan and Midgley had a great run last year, that car is supercharged and was pretty well set up. They had some bad luck with the engine this year however...

I hear you guys set your courses much bigger and faster down there in the US... up here those cars wouldn't have too much of a chance. I run a '93 Civic Sedan LX with the stock D15 and I get very disappointed if I place outside of the top 10 overall (out of 70-90 cars) at our local events. With the smaller lots and tight courses we set up here the only way to go is a small light chassis like the EG Civic, Miata et al. Every once in awhile there will be a well prepped Mustang or Vette on the right course but not too often...

Nope. SM it is. I would be in SM2 (SM for 2 seat cars) if it was underweight for SM rules. There's no way in hell, under SM rules, you can get an 06+ Si under 1,975 lbs.

One Lap is basically a series of Time Attacks on road courses around the country. Usually they throw in drags and even the occasional auto-x. But mainly they run on road courses.

Again, I think an 06+ Si with FI would make a good Time Attack car, but for auto-x, not so much.
