coilovers ftw

so im searching for a nice reasonably priced coilover setup for my 07 si....its my daily driver and will not see any track days...im looking for the ride quality to be smooth, comfortable with very little to no bounce and of course an improvement in handling.....i want to lower the car and dont want to just get springs and worry about blown shocks....ive been searching on tein basics and ss....could anyone recommend a setup?..thanx

I'll assume you want it lower than stock? If *not*, I suggest HFP suspension + Progress Rear Sway Bar.

i had Tein basics on my old 3g Eclipse. i drove on those coilovers for about 4-5 years and they held up perfectly during all that time. still as supportive in year 4 as they were brand new, and no sag. i was very impressed and if i ever went the coilover route again in the future i would definitely go Tein. probably the basics again too. they dont offer the damper adjustment but they are already set up nice. good combination of value and performance for the weekend racer.

The tein basics should be good enough since you're not gonna be taking your car to the tracks.

Tokico shocks and Tein SS lowering springs could be another option. I know its not a coilover but im sure they are still good.

Actually the bounce really depends on the road you live in. I mean you can have the flattest ground and a soft setup or a hard setup would make a difference.

IMO the stock SI suspension is pretty stiff for stock. So changing to coilover will probably make it a little more stiffer.

stiffer meaning less bouncy then stock..maybe the ss or the flex...or even anything else that is comparable....

Stiffer than stock will lead to more bounce.

Stiffer springs will not prevent or reduce bounce at all.

"All springs "Bounce" its in their nature. Dampers Control the springs Occilations (bouncing). So if your car is bouncing, its not the springs fault its the dampers fault. To stop them from making the ride bouncy you need the proper damper (shock)."

stiff and bounce do not necessarily coexist. A proper suspension can be stiff without being bouncy.

What is your budget? Have you factored a front/rear camber kit into that budget as well?

sooner or later I wanna lower my Si coupe and try to get rid of ALL that stock wheel gap there. I AM planning on staying with the OEM wheel specs and same tire specs. I just need to find a fixed height and drop for my car and I know little about aftermarket suspension. I hope I can get helped here aswell and the OP cause I am wanting this bad and are interested. I myself was always an EIBACH suspension fan but I see pretty much all and everyone with Tein suspensions. Is Tein the new #1 suspension brand nowadays?.

I plan on getting everything necessary to have a good setup(camber kit, coilovers, and etc). I just dont want my ride to be bouncy over every little thing on the road. If there are bumps on the road I don't want the car to bounce with the bumps. I want it to be nice and smooth

I am also willing to do a spring/shock combo in order to satisfy my needs. Something close to stock will work also. I really want to get rid of the wheel gap and improve handling if i can. I just figure springs alone would not be good because I don't want to deal with blown shocks. Its mainly for dd and can take the rough roads i have here.

yeah me too. my Si is also a DD car and I wanted to give it a more agressive stance and get rid of the wheel gap AND get some kind of performance out of the setup aswell.

I find TEIN Basics or Super Streets to be a great setup for a daily driver who does some occasional track time. They are firmer than stock, but not stiff or bouncy. They include 4 shortened case dampers w/ springs and are ride height adjustable so you can find that exact lowering you want. If you opt to get the SS you also some damping adjustment, which is relative adjustment of how firm or soft the ride is (in layman's terms).

PM me if you need a set.
