DIY bump stop removal..anyone?

well, as we all know, these dealers can be a pain when dealing with our bump stop problem! so...i was wondering if anyone out there has a DIY on the removal and replacement of the bump stops since the dealer is MORE than happy to sell them to at just over 7 bucks a piece! thanks!

If you need to ask how to take a strut apart, you obviously shouldn't attempt the job because chances are you don't have the most important tool (after knowledge), and that is a spring compressor.

So why on't you share your wealth of knowledge so he knows. I'm sure there was a time you didn't know either. Plus spring compressors are pretty easy to find

Go to the Suspension DIY area - there's 2 DIYs regarding installing lowering springs or full coils. Either will work to get to the point to take the front struts out. Beware though, the first time taking them off is a PITA if you've never done it before. As far as difficulty...if replacing the intake with a CAI is daunting, this is even more difficult than that. No matter what, have a friend and lots of (proper) tools.

As far as a spring compressor goes - go put ~70$ deposit at Autozone/Shucks/whatever generic auto place and get a spring compressor. Don't do this without one.

If I were going to pay someone other than the dealer to take apart my front struts, I'd wait to get some Koni FSDs to replace the OEM struts and shocks.

LX model Bump stops

...My si pops all the time, I was told it was the struts then I was told it was the sway bar and now the bump stops...I called Honda and politely asked if Honda was going to change the name to GM and hinted at the lemon law. They called the Honda service center for me and now they are replacing all my bumps stops with the LX model bumps stops for free. Funny thing was I also mentioned the rev hanging and dead throttle. What I took the car back it seemed like they had done something -not sure but something (subtle)?

Dave.
