yeah, I've talked to peenoy_si and he told me to take off the locking ring, but its really stuck on there.

I'm really wondering if the F2 coilovers for the Si is the exact same for the EX.

I'm thinking, maybe I got the wrong springs? I've contacted F2 a few times already, gotta call them again tmrw.

here's what mine look like, they're about 7" tall.

Try using a BFH to get that lock ring off. I use a BFH to loosen and tighten the locking ring perches. I hold both wrenchs with one hand and hit the bottom wrench with the other.

Any ways, the springs should be fine on your car.

And where's peenoy_si? There's a rep button I need to push. Of course, hopefully it doesn't lower it too much, but I'd like it to match the front AND have good travel. I may not be able to have my cake and eat it too though...if I can't, then oh well, I love the stability of my car and it's taken months to get it here

I'm suprised that they tried to install it with the perch on the bottom...it doesn't even fit right because the lip on the bottom isn't the same as on the top... >.< I think I have more experience than that shop, lol!

You were doing good until you mentioned "Gotta do a re-alignment anyways after installing the new bumpstops."

I'm not sure what you mean. Maybe I was vague - I have to remove the front suspension and take apart the front struts to replace the bumpstops with the "new" redesigned bumpstops from the TSB in this thread:

Popping from front suspension solved!!!!!!!! TSB!!!!!!!!

So the bumpstop comment was in reference to something I'm doing un-related to the rear suspension. Sorry for being undescriptive on that!

OTOH, Maybe you're saying that I don't have to get an alignment after taking the struts off and re-attaching them? It's moot because I have to change my camber, but of course if I'm incorrect on the first part... Making a vague statment saying I'm doing something pointless/wrong/whatever isn't helpful. Nothing against you because you've provided tons of info, but... <boart>please to be more specific?</borat>

No point.. first thing that popped up on a google search.

At first i thought ConQueso was added an aftermarket bumpstop and the only reason I see for that was in that Miata link.

Actually, he's replacing his original bumpstop with a replacement because of...

So, Roadster, are you saying no alignment is needed?

If you are replacing the bumpstops on the front, you don't need to get an alignment afterwards (unless you have adjustable camber bolts or can get it close and don't care about a perfect camber setting).

The Miata is completely different. It is a heck of a lot lighter, RWD, etc.

I've never heard of aftermarket bumpstops for a stock setup. The ones that were replaced via the TSB were more than likely recpmmended because the stock bumpstops were too long. You can cut them yourself to solve the problem or bring it to the dealer.

so in a nut shell, everything fits perfectly? and the only thing different is that the perch sits on the top instead of the bottom?

Yeah, all in all, everything fits perfectly, but for some reason I dunno how pinoy_Si (or something) got it down to 1/2 finger gap.

oh one more question (sorry haha)
should the locking ring be taken off before installation then? is the locking ring part of the coilovers?
I have yet to see the "actual" set of the coils so I wanna make sure when I get them.

and they should fit the DX-G right? essentially a DX, but with more features in canada.
