HFP Suspension

If I install the HFP Suspension, do I need to install a camber kit with it?

pretty sure that you don't.

when honda installs it on their cars, i doubt they swap out camber bolts as well....

You don't need camber kit but you may need an alignment.

How do you like them. Is it and noticable difference from stock. I want them to but I was affraid they were not going to make a drastic change in my ride quality. Thansk in advance.

Big difference in the EX sedan's HFP handling, rides on rails. I do have a clunking sound thats developed from right rear spring/shock area. Not sure what it is as everything is tight.

how about on the EX coupe? I was wanting to get this setup for mine, especially now that I have the Si wheels on.

I don't necessarily want to drop it enormously ( as I'm a commuter ) But the "benefits" so to speak, of dropping, is what I'm looking for.

You'll greatly benefit from HFP if you want improved handling characteristics. It only drops an inch for Si's, so if you're looking for more, look elsewhere. You still won't need a camber adjustment as far as I can tell, just be sure to check alignment.

so it won't actually drop my EX?

Hm. that might not be such a bad thing, as the ride height to me right now is pretty good. But it still feels a bit wobbly. ( but then again, i was used to my focus SVT with its track suspension setup lol! )

It'll drop it, but it's not going to be like Skunk2 springs.

so in your opinion what would be more worthwhile ( for the overall enjoyment factor w/o sacrificing parts earlier than they should go out, or voiding warranty )

Get HFP, it's the most "complete" system out there that won't break your bank. Your other bet would probably be the Mugen components (as they have shocks too). As HighRev would put it though, customizing what dampers and springs you want will go a longer way. Of course, that puts that issue of voiding warranty on there...but, that's always up to you, the potential buyer.

I had the same question, but just decided to go with the HFP Kit just because if something does break or go wrong it's a Honda part and it'll be less of a hassle to get my dealership to help me out. I'm very pleased with how my has turned out, only wish it dropped just a little lower.

I had this same debate a month ago and ended up getting the HFP kit. My car is now lower but I don't have to do anything differently to avoid dips and bumps. You might want to be careful when parking though so you don't hit those block things. The car also feels bumpier on uneven roads, but that's to be expected because the shocks are stiffer. However people who don't ride in my car often barely feel the difference. But I can feel the difference the most when I'm making a left turn. I always used to take the outside lanes when doing so, but now the car "tells" me that it can handle me forcing it inside. All in all, the kit is the perfect ratio of performance, looks, and handling. If you don't want balance (i.e. more of a drop, etc), then this kit is not for you.

I'm planning on getting the HFP kit soon. Can anyone tell me how many hours I should count on being charged at a Honda dealer? Thx.

They charged me about $450 for installation and $80 for alignment. I think it took about half a day. It also depends on your area. I live in southern OC, California and every place I called wanted more than that. I even tried calling Weseloh because someone on this board said it was cheaper, but they quoted me a pretty ridiculous price too. I know I didn't get the best possible deal, but I have a tight schedule so I went to the dealer with the best price in my 30 mile radius.

FYI, I have an issue after my HFP install. I am getting a clunking sound in the rear right tire area over slight bumps.I did not have the dealership install and wanted them to take a look at it. They said I am on my own if I need a new shock etc as well as labor is not covered as it wasnt installed by the dealership. And is not a stock EX sedan part even though it is Honda.
The fn guy who installed it is giving me the run around everytime I bring it to him. Hes saying it looks like the sway bar is hitting the controll arms or something and cant look at it till Saturday.

Thx...it seems there is a real range of prices out there depending on the dealer. I always thought they charged the Honda recommended number of hours for every part. I guess I better shop around. Thx again.

Yeah, the range is huge. I've seen up to $800 for installation. I had to do a bit of negotiating to get the $450 that I paid for it. First, I asked for the guy I bought the HFP body kit from and reminded him of the transaction, then asked if he could hook me up on the suspension kit. I also bring up the fact that they're close to my office so I've always come to them for maintenance and service. If that doesn't work, you can also try price matching between dealers. Good luck!
