How stiff is stoo stiff?!?!

Ive been wanting to do some frame stiffening to the civic, im wondering if making it too stiff will make things unsafe?

My shopping list goes as followed...

Corsport front brace
Corsport H brace
Corsport rear brace
Progress rear sway bar
(unknown brand) Strut bar

What do you think?? Im not planning on lowering it quite yet.

Mentally, the car will "Feel" more solid, which gives the person more confidence in the car, which can be good and bad. Good cause it mentally allows you to drive your car faster cause your more confident, even though acutal performance improvment was miniscual. Bad because if you don't know what your doing then chances are you will end up over driving your car. Basically you end up driving the car at 70% rather than 50% and saying What a boost in performance this did.

What this comes down to is just a couple things.
Is there a performance gain with chassis bracing? YES (Were talking A tenth of a second or so)
Is this gain in performance somthing that can be noticed on the street? NO
Does the car "feel" different where you wil notice it. YES

"Your still talking about a tenth or two of a second per turn improvement in performance at the cars limits. Not something thats noticable on the street because 1. your not being timed and 2. your not driving at the cars limits on the street. Try it, grab a stop watch and try to start and stop it under .100. its not easy. Thats the improvement your looking at in ACTUAL numbers at the cars limits.

Conclusion, the alteration in feel an subsuquent boost in confedence in the chassis by the driver, by far out weighs the performance improvemnt a chassis brace may have given you."

Acutal performance on the street NO you won't notice it.
Secondly you are also going to install an Si Front sway bar on your car correct? That would be a BAD idea if your acutally interested in getting better handling.

Basically it will take out one more item to tuning the suspension which happens to be chassis flex. If you were talking about DAMPERS then YES there without a doubt is DEFINTEYLY TOOO STIFF!!!

REFER HERE any one put a strut towerbar on an si?

Beat you Belch!!!

The sway bar is the only thing that will improve handling.

When it comes to chassis stiffness, i dont think there is a too stiff as long as the suspension isn't a rock. Those braces will not make the chassis too stiff, they cant.

From your list, the part where your car will improve the most would be the Progress Rear Sway bar. Everything else on your list is almost a waste unless you're like Autox every weekend. With the extra money buy better tires.
