Coilovers for the FG2. Who has what?

I can't decide if I want to purchase the HFP lips or coilovers first. On my last civic before my S2000, I had Koni Yellows and Ground Controls with 400F and 500R spring rates. It was a bit harsh for some people, but I loved how it was on the street and in AutoX, even with boost.

I am thinking of going with something different for my FG2 though. I know the Koni's are not out yet.

I see some people on here run the Tein Setups, Megan Racing (i think I will pass on them) and the Buddy Clubs. I was curious as to who has what setup and how they liked them.

I was really leaning to the Tein Setups, but I was not sure what the differences were. With the Basic, Flex, SS and all that. I have searched a bit, but would like to hear more feedback fromy ou guys.

Any particular reason why you are passing on the Megan's? Just curious.

Not really. I know it sounds sad and I think I talked to you about it a while back, just when I hear Megan Racing I think cheap. But I hear they have been good latly. How do you like yours, what are the spring rates?

I bought Tein S.tech springs about 5 months ago. Right now, the car's feeling really bouncy and the rear camber is getting worse, and the front feels like it sagging more than the rear, bleh. I would not recommend springs that drop you more than an inch =[.

So right now, I wanna get coilovers too. I've been doing some research:

Megan have recalled their coilovers twice because the rears kept bottoming out, but they've fixed it, and everything should be fixed by now. Around $850. The good thing about Megan is that they come with pillow ball mounts (no need for camber kit). They're not a good drop though. The way Megan fixed they rear was to make a taller spring.

Tein SS sounds the best deal to me, around $1100. Its a max drop of 2.2/1.8in (F/R) (pretty sure). People have said that they are firmer than Megan. Also, SS generally does not include pillow ball mounts (Tein site does say that they offer them though). I have also read that it's difficult to adjust the height by yourself.

I'm waiting for Koni to come out too.

I am not running their coilover system as of yet. Still currently running their prototype set of springs. You should ask Celcius, or Type X. I know they are running them.

I'm waiting for vendors to get GC/Koni for my FA5. I had 400/450lb on my old Civic with extended top hats on all 4. By FAR the best suspension...

From your description it sounds like the TEIN SS would be a good setup for you b/c you it is ride height adjustable and you can adjust dampening (16 levels). This way you can adjust relatively how soft or firm the ride is. PM me for pricing.

tein flex here ... love them

had megans ... dealt with their problems ... they fixed them though ... but overall the build quality of those coilovers are LOW ... one of the bracket adapters thingys that hold the brake line broke off, the one on the other side the weld was coming loose. u could bend those things with ur hands i had to make someone weld them on there stronger cuz i just couldn't bother dealing with megan after and it was an easy fix ... the coilove just seems flimsy overall ..

i had tein SS ... they were a great ride too ... i just prefer the stiffness + ease of adjust ability of the flex...

I rock the Tein SS....no issues whatsoever. Amazing ride quality and performance. If I could do again, however, I would have sprung for the flex

Flex is about $500 more. You can PM Excelerate for quote on SS... there's also ebay.

I'll back up Megan. I've had them almost a year now and haven't had any issues with them. I like the 32-way adjustibility, but I've only put them to good use a handful of times, as I don't track my car.

Whichever way you go is up to you. I know Sickyute has had issues when they first came out, but don't let one bad egg ruin the batch for you( referring to the coils he got, not the him. :P ).

chances are they are shipping out updated versions by now ...

like i said back then ... if they fixed their issues it's the best bang for the buck ...

Cool, I don't mean to be whatever it's just the name Megan Racing to me sounds like APC ha. But a few of you all have them and say they are nice. So no noises, how stiff are the spring rates. I just don't want to get a setup and be use to 500 400 and then have them not be stiff enough.
