Get coilovers from the start. Seriously do it right the first time, if you don't then you'll end up spending more.

It all depends on what you want to do. If you want a set it and forget it, you could get some lowering springs and some Koni yellows if/when they come out. That would cost about 900 bucks (guessing) and get you good handling with a good ride and they are adjustable if you want to change the handling.

If you get coilovers, you have to adjust each corner to make the ride height the same all the way around. It takes more than one try to do it too because once you lower one corner, the opposite corner is raised. A lot of cheap coil overs pop and rattle when turning or going over bumps.(My Tein SS did) Also, coilover makers put cheap dampers into the coilover to keep costs down. So if you want a good ride out of a coilover, you are looking at 2000 or more for a monotube damper with remote reservior.

Or, you could get Koni Yellows (if/when) with Ground Control coilover spirngs and camber plates and get a better damper than an off the shelf coil over with more adjustability and better handling for about 1300.

Or, get the HFP, but that really doesn't lower the car too much.

If you don't care about handling, just get some lowering springs and replace the stock dampers when they blow every 2 years.

But thats just my take.
