i'm not trying to harp on you or anything. the thing is, is that (obviously) springs are part of the suspension package. and so, since you did begin to bring up the possibility of purchasing coilovers, i really wanted to just recommend you to peruse through the available stickies that cover where your question seemed to be heading. |

And I must apologize for not doing that ahead of time.
I just PM'd HighRev1 because that stickie was simply awesome. However, given the abundance of info, my specific situation is hard to analyze from my "noob-ish" standpoint. But thank you for directing me in the right direction, but I wouldn't have peppered you guys too much without educating myself first.

Thanks LB! I think I've made up my mind based on the wise HighRev1. I received a reply to my PM yesterday and I have a definite path to what I want, and it's MUCH cheaper than I was planning for because of the Suspensions thread.
So uh, to help out the Senior Members here, READ THE STICKIES!!!!! LOL!

So LB, if I am reading the Suspensions thread correctly, would I be correct in assuming that I could put a rear sway bar on my Civic Si because it's FWD, helping to correct the understeer? I'm not racing it, but a more stable steering profile would be desirable for anyone, I would think. I have the alignment specs HR1 posted, which aren't tire-eating specs yet improve handling, but the sway bar issue is what's vexing me. Thoughts? No front sway but a rear sway = best option for non-race track handling?
If the next question is "How do you drive?", the answer is "aggressive". I like taking turns hard, but I certainly don't drift the car. I want the ability to corner aggressively while not chewing up my tires during a "normal" commute. Having said that, my interpretation of the thread is that a rear sway bar would assist the understeer issue and handling.

"Suspension tuning is similar to Civic Si Coupe with the same spring rates and rear stabilizer bar diameter, with slightly different damper tuning and front stabilizer bar diameter that best match the sedan’s longer 106.3-inch wheelbase (+2.0 inches compared to the coupe). " The length of coils without any load on them - are they different between cars? The HFP rates for all the above? Last edited by ryker; 02-11-2008 at 07:33 PM. |

I just swapped out my r18 rear springs for Si springs. Fit perfect. Other than the paint codes your couldn't tell the springs apart. Same length and same number of coils.
Now I think my lighter EX sits slighty higher with the stiffer Si Springs. I would have liked about a 1/2" drop. Not yet road tested. |

I'm looking at getting the Neuspeed sport springs, but I don't know anything about spring rates or things like that never took the time to know. My question is if the Neuspeed is 218/448 f/r... Will that be nice and stiff or stiffer than than stock by a lot or just enough. I want stiff on the front anyway. I don't care about a harsh ride.
