Another HFP thread
So I stopped by the dealership last evening, I had a chip in my hood that needed touched up. One of the salesmen, not the guy I dealt with, was complenting my car and we we just making small talk. I asked him for a ball park price on how much it would be to install the HFP suspension kit on my 07 Si coupe. I said I could get the set up for about $600. I'm no expert by anymeans, but this hump told me that it would be $1,400 just for the install.

are we talking USD or CAD?.... 1400USD is a rip.
you could buy the suspension off ebay for 550USD... get a mechanic friend to help u install it... pay him 100 bucks... go get an alignment for 100 bucks... take your buddies out to dinner and get drunk and still have change left! |

I read somewhere on here long ago a post from a Honda Tech. He/she said that the book lists this job as a 2.5 hour job + an alignment.
If that's the case, you should be able to get it installed for around $322.50 ($95/hr labor and $85 for alignment) I always get 15% off work done over $100 all the time. That would drop it to around $275 to $300 (depending if it would cover the alignment or not). I have noticed that calling around different dealers I get drastically different prices. I have been quoted from $345 all the way to $900. This was from 4 different dealers. And the dealer I bought my car from was the highest! Can anyone who works for Honda confirm that this is a 2.5 hour job? |

Call around. I was the one that posted it's a 2.2 book hour job. I'll try to post a link, but I just read a story on a major news site about a Mercedes owner that was told by the dealership it was going to be $6500!! to repair his sunroof. He took his car to another dealer where they removed a little pebble in the track and charged him $140 (pretty standard just to look at a car). So shop around, be armed with knowledge, and buyer beware.
BTW, go back to the dealer and tell them that if it takes their techs 2 whole days (15 hours) to install 2 struts, 2 shocks, and 2 springs, that they must be retarded and that you are going to report them to the BBB for having morons working on cars creating an unsafe condition. |

Check out my new thread! It is more comfortable than i thought it would be.
I also thought there would be a bigger difference in handling. It seems like its not too much stiffer but the car has much less roll and goes through the curves much quicker and flater. Seriously, don't even worry about the comfort. its good. Save the worrying for the drop. -And no alignment yet, maybe later. I just don't feel a need for it. doesn't pull more in either direction. |
