Just did it

Well I just went and did it.... wife is going to be pissed, but hey, its only money!

Got tired of looking at everyone elses FG's and FA's lowered and looking clean. Now keep in mind that these are only temporary, but I wanted to lower my FA5 and I'm impatient! So until I can afford some decent adjustable coilovers I ordered up a set of the Skunk2 drop springs.

I was very hesitant because they are for the '06 FG2, and even calling Skunk2 I couldn't get a varified answer that these will/will not fit the '07 FA5. I was told to check the Honda part numbers for the stock springs between the '06 FG2 and '07 FA5 and if they matched then it would be all good. So I did that, and the numbers match about 90%. This is what I mean:

'06 FG2
RF Spring - 51401-SVB-A02
LF Spring - 51406-SVB-A02
RR Spring - 52441-SVB-A01

'07 FA5
RF Spring - 51401-SNX-A02
LF Spring - 51406-SNX-A02
RR Spring - 52441-SNX-A01

No Left Rear Spring was listed in the parts breakdown for either car so I can only assume that its the same part number for spring on either side.

So besides the middle digits, SVB vs. SNX, everything else lines up. So I said "F" it and placed the order. Once I get them in and installed I'll snap some pics and post them up. Needless to say I'm excited because besides tint this is the first mod to my FA!

On a side note, I didn't order the Skunk2 camber kits, at least not yet. Besides money being tight I wanted to give just the springs a chance to see what the stance becomes. Eventually tho I will be placing an order for the camber kits, fear not!

Got the Skunk2 springs in today... took some pics of them in the box, but I'm still without my camera cable, and I'm without tools to put them on. I'm waiting for the movers to deliver all my worldly goods on Friday, and then hopefully if the wife doesn't have me unpacking and moving things around this weekend I'll be able to install them and see how the drop is. Needless to say I'm a wee bit excited!

Finally done *WTIH PICS*

Well boys and girls, I finally got a chance to spend some quality time with my FA5 and install these Skunk2's. I did it Sunday, got my camera cable Monday, and am uploading the pics today!

Over all the job was easy, especially since I used Silverciv06's DIY... great DIY by the way, I'll make my own to piggyback his after I post this. Take a look there for more pics. It dropped it about 2" I'd guess... I should have took measurements before and after, but I just now thought about it.... and it looks like they are still settling some, maybe be an 1/16 or 1/8 of an inch lower once its set in. The ride quality is okay, a bit stiff over bumps, but I don't mine. Cornering is great, and the only problem I have is the camber. Alot of people complain about negative rear camber... the Skunks gave it a little more negative then stock, but not much, and its not enough to bother me one bit. The fronts however now have positive camber. Going to have to get that fixed. All in all tho I'm pleased.

Sorry for the dirty car... I washed my car last week and since the day I did its rained every single night..

ride is good... hitting bumps or potholes you know your car is lowered, but its not enought to rattle the teeth from your head.

They should settle a little lower than that, giving it a more "tucked" look. Did you use the camber kits as well?

not yet... I didn't have enough of a budget for them when I ordered the springs. But the rear camber isn't that bad actually, a little more negative then stock. The front has positive camber now, just a bit, but its enough that if you know what to look for you can tell. I want to fix that..
