If you mean oem Si suspension then you will have a stiffer ride like you wanted but I say because you put a stiffer spring that is not shorter on a lighter car the end result will be that your Civic will be raised slightly. So you will have a sportier ride but your wheel gap wheel be larger.
From hondanews.com: Civic Coupe Exclusive Suspension Tuning To achieve sport coupe performance, the Civic Coupe has the following exclusive suspension tuning compared to the 2006 Civic Sedan: Front spring rate increases 20 percent Rear spring rate increases 28 percent Sport tuned front and rear damper settings Solid front 25.4 x 3.5 mm tubular stabilizer bar (up from 24.2 x 3.0 mm) Solid rear 11.0 mm stabilizer bar (up from 10.0 mm) Civic Si Exclusive Suspension Tuning To achieve razor-like performance, the Civic Si has the following exclusive suspension tuning compared to the 2006 Civic Coupe: Front spring rate increases 17 percent Rear spring rate increases 14 percent Track tuned front and rear damper settings Solid front 28.0 mm stabilizer bar (up from 25.4 mm tubular) Solid rear 17.0 mm stabilizer bar (up from 11.0 mm) Heavy duty front wheel hub and bearings Heavy duty front and rear lower control arms -If you have a manual you can buy a brand new HFP suspension kit from ebay for $499. A new seller just came to the scene and I bought mine for the 06-07 Civic LX/EX coupe for $501 shipped. |

Engine weight !!!
Si front end is heaver than EX because of engine weight. IMO..it's not a good match. Save your money and get the HFP suspension that is designed by Honda for each car (non-Si coupe/sedan or Si coupe/sedan). If you check eBay you can always find the HFP suspension for $475-$550 range shipped.

Thanks guys... yes the Si is almost 200lbs. heavier and most of the extra weight I think is up front. Springs take a certain amount of weight to compress a certain amount. It takes more weight to compress the Si oem spring 1 inch than it does the LX/EX. The si spring is approximately 15-20% stiffer than your oem spring. It would be the same if you had an Si and you put the R18 motor and tranny in the si you would drop the weight, so less weight compressing the spring, end result you raise the car. You are putting a stiffer spring in which will raise the car unless its aftermarket which was made to be shorter than oem.
-so basically the Si owner can drop a whole lot of weight(given he has oem springs/shocks) and his car will be slightly raised. - or you can put a spring on your car which is the same height, but requires more weight to compress it the same amount, and your car will be slightly raised. I hope this is much clearer for you now. I just got my Honda Factory Performance suspension from ebay for $502 shipped! I recomend you check out what ebay has to offer for your car! You can pick up the HFP suspension for cheap. |
