Endlinks are the same on all trims however ( http://www.hondanews.com/categories/957/releases/2778 ) claims that the Si has: (over the non si Civic)

Heavy duty front wheel hub and bearings
Heavy duty front and rear lower control arms

^ Earlier in this thread, I forget where, I posted my findings from hondapartsdeals.com. The Si and non-Si part numbers for the LCA are different, but I realized today that that is likely due to the different hub/knuckle design. From blueroadster's pics, the endlink bracket looks exactly the same.

Coles Notes: If I had an Si, I'd be playing it safe and welding or getting Highrev's brackets.

Thanks. Then again that same website said that the Civic Si had dual piston calipers up front. I got those front brakes and they look like they have one piston for each caliper.

Highrev1, I would be interested in a set.
I inspected mine yesterday and so far no problems. No early signs of stress.
No paint cracking or metal out of shape. But why take a chance, adding a little support could be just what is needed.

So according to this, you had installed the bar incorrectly(without the adapter pieces) before it broke?

Can we add a choice to the poll for the people who have the Progress bar installed, and haven't had any problems? I feel that this will give us objective results?

Well...this would def. explain the tear out you got. It appears they move the bar down with the adapter plates, sitting it in stock position would DEF. add stress to the endlink mounting location, and the weakest part brok first.
Guess this just means don't install the bar without the adapter kit.

The original shear looks like the force was pulled toward the front, not up and down as would be the normal force driven by the control arms. Does anyone else see this? Or am I off base?

THis is also another reason why the stock endlinks are good if your concerned about somthing like this, they are generally weaker and will break first.
So just for my own peace of mind... we're talking about the flat brackets that come with the progress RSB, correct (in the middle, not at the endlinks)? I did not use those brackets on my Si coupe, based on some advice in another thread. since there are apparently differences between the Si and non-Si mounting locations, have I installed it correctly on my Si?

It does but look at the endlink after the fix, you can see there is pressure in that area, and that is clearly the weakest part that little extra bit of metal on the outer edge.

SI=no bracekts

non si = brackets needed.

Are you sure that's not just my welding skills (or lack thereof)?

I considered the fact that the original mounting location might have had something to do with the break. But I have trouble wrapping my mind around that, considering that the difference in the location between then and now is only about 1/2". And as iomatic said, it is a front tear out.
The fact that the bar was originally incorrectly installed certainly didn't help the situation, but I think the fact that the bar is simply much stiffer than the original bar is the bigger player here.

So let's clarify -- Sis are probably fine without reinforcement, yes?

I haven't heard of any si's having problems. I have had zero problems with mine. And also other trims, if they used the adapter pieces. To get accurate results though, we need to know if this was an isolated case resulting from not using the adapters.

No offense to J-Ro, I'm just looking for the facts. I would like to see another choice on the poll. Something like:

I installed my bar properly, and have had no problems.
