Can we get a list of after-market end-link kits for 8th gen cars?

Is there a possibility that your other suspension / wheel mods may have put extra stress on the mount or maybe corrosion from salted roads? I can't find any other instances where this has happened on an 8th gen.

I am super curious as to what caused this failure since I have an EX with the Progress rear sway.

Thanx for the info & 'heads up'

Theoretically, salty roads could be to blame, but given Honda's history, I would sincerely hope not. The only suspension mod that would cause increased stress in that mount would be the swaybar, and I guarantee that's why it happened...and that's why I'm putting this info out, so that people who have the swaybar can watch for this, and people thinking about getting one can make a more informed choice

Hmm if this becomes a common problem I am sure some sort of "Stregthener" could be made so this doesn't happen. Somthing that emulates the same shape of that connecting bracket and bolts onto it From both sides so everyone doesn't need to get it welded.

I heard on the other Civic forums that 7th gen Civics with lower tie bars/rear upper strut bar combined with sway bars of 19mm and larger have experienced broken rear subframes and some other suspension/chassis components?

Do you think what happened to J-Ro with the endlinks breaking off the lower control arm is just as likely on the Si? On www.hondaautomotiveparts.com it shows that the Si control arm and the non Si one have different part numbers, however the part number for the plastic cover that goes over a certain part of the rear lower control arm shares the same part number. Besides the parts look completely identical in the diagrams.

Ah. I was under the (ignorant) impression this was an Si. Are endlinks stronger? Does anyone know?

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to take a good look at mine when I change my oil this week.

Is my understanding correct that it wasn't the endlinks that failed but part of the car frame?

If that is true anyone want to buy a brand new bar for cheap?

I never installed my Progress rear sway bar. It's been my closet for about 5 months. I'm lazy and now I'm way to to ever put it on.

Someone reassure me.

You are correct.

If it's any consolation, if you have access to a welder, you can reinforce it pretty easily.

just for clarification (in case it's not clear) J-Ro does NOT have an Si. I'm still wondering if the bracket is the same on the R18 coupes....

^ Yeah, thanks Mike. I probably should have clarified. I imagine the LCAs would be the same, but I don't know.

*EDIT* Here are the LCA p/n's:

SI:
52370-SVB-A02 020 ARM, R. RR. TRAILING
52371-SVB-A02 021 ARM ASSY., L. RR. TRAILING

EX:
52370-SNA-A04 020 ARM, R. RR. TRAILING
52371-SNA-A04 021 ARM, L. RR. TRAILING

Same images (exact same address), but different part numbers, so no guarantee that the LCAs are the same.

***Sorry about the image size... I don't know why they came out so huge

Goes underneath the car... the rear is just in front of the gas tank. Each end connects to an endlink, which is in turn connected to the lower control arm (LCA). The break on my car was between the left endlink and the bracket on the LCA.
