Street Pads: Ceramic or Non-Ceramic

I have a 2006 EX that is about to need new brakes. I have put Goodyear Comfortread tires on already and LOVE the way the ride feels now, more luxury and smooth over the crappy VA highways. I drive about 20k a year, mostly freeway. I never motorcross but have a heavy gas/brake tendancy (taking on-ramps and corners too fast to be legal, etc).

I am looking to buy good replacement pads that have low dust and will give an improvement in stopping power. I am also not wanting to break the bank.

So, the question is: Ceramic or Non?

I like the Hawk pads and am debating on either the HPS or Cermaic Performance. Please give suggestions of these two or other pads that I can buy at AutoZone/PepBoys/Advance etc. Thanks.

Go with the HPS can't go wrong there.

I will, but I was more asking about Ceramic vs. Metallic.

I have the hawk HPS on my si and they are way better than stock in terms of stopping distance and fade. A ever so slight noise when you really get on them to stop but nothing to be alarmed or anything. they do get dusty during break in but after that they produce just as little dust as the OEM pads. In regards to ceramic or non-ceramic I would go with the non cermamcis. The compound in a ceramic pad is made to make the pad last longer but not frinedly on rotors. Meaning it will eat up your rotors quicker say instead of getting 20k or 30K miles out of your brakes you may only get 10K or 15K depending on your braking style. Non-ceramic pads are a bit more rotor friendly...

Thanks for the info. Just curious, how many miles did you go before needing to change your stock pads?

I had like 5k on my stockers...they were still in great condition. I was in the process of putting SS lines so I figure what the heck and put in new pads and rotors

For a daily driver, the car's braking performance is influenced to a greater degree by the tires, not the brake pads. Modern pads can resist brake fade really well, but for repeated heavy braking, ceramic pads are better.
However, the dust on ceramic pads is harder to see when compared to organic or non-metallic pads so it may be the way to go.
