Accidently driving Civic EX with parking brake on

Hi,

I left my car, 07 Civic EX, in a parking lot this morning and when I got back the attendant gave me my key as they had left the car right in front. I got in drove like a 100 feet when I heard a warning beep at which point I noticed that the driving attendant had engaged my parking brake when he had parked my car and I had failed to disengage it prior to driving. Do you think I did any damage to my brakes by driving about 100-200 feet with the parking brake engaged? Just wondering whether its something I should have my dealer check when I take it in for service next. Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about it. One of the reasons they have the warning beep is to prevent you from doing excessive damage.

You'll be fine.

I dont think you DAMAGED your brakes... but just put more wear and tear on the parts that are supposed to have wear and tear

Thanks, that makes me feel a little better. I was going to add that I went up a slight incline out of the parking lot initially and braked maybe twice and didn't go above 15 mph. I'm just overly concerned I guess because I picked up the car brand new from the dealer last Friday .

its too LATE to worry...just deal with it, and don't make the same mistake on the future.

Well, congrats on the new ride then! Enjoy it and drive safe.

Once again, no big deal, it's fine.

It damaged your car about as much as the valets mud butt on your seats did.

It's alright you just gotta change your rear pads sooner.

No worries. Just a little extra wear on the pads. My brother drove my 95 EX for 7 miles with the parking break on. It was to the point where smoke was rolling from the brakes and the pedal went to the floor. I took it into the shop expecting a big repair and the mechanic said that the rear pads had just worn down and needed to be adjusted. I drove that car for another two years with no problems and no need to replace the brakes.

I have done similar things like this before and had no negative impact on my handbrake. You should be just fine.

Thanks for the replies. I feel a lot better now and in the future I'm always going to check now to make sure the parking attendant didn't engage my parking brake.
