Suspension Variables And Definitions

I have a question.. HighRev recomended camber settings of

Camber Front = -1.5 to -1.75
Camber Rear = -1 to -1.25

Now to achieve those setting you stated you need a f&R camber kit. I looked at the instructions from College Hills Honda for the HFP suspension and they recomend for HFP suspension only settings of
Front 0
Rear -2

Now if I can achieve -2 degrees camber with just the HFP suspension why do I need a camber kit? Thanks for the help

The HFP kit doesnt allow you to change rear camber. -2 degrees is just what the rear suspension will be at after its lowered. For the front, 0 is recomended because that's what Honda recomends from the factory. Honda's alignment is ment to cause understeer and save tires. The question is, why put an alignment on that causes understeer and lessens tire wear? Answer, so honda doesnt get sued. Ive been running similar settings for 7000 miles now and I have every even tire wear on all 4 tires and my car still has enough (read too much) understeer to keep me safe on the streets.

So is -2 degrees too much camber in the rear? If not than why couldn't I just get front camber bolts to correct the front and save some money?

Your handling will be better (more rotation) if you have more camber in the front than the rear. However, if you only got the cash/just don't wanna spend it for a rear camber kit, then you will be just fine.

Sorry fellas just got into this thread and I'm sure its been covered, but for tire wear, would installing hfp and having it 0, -2 be optimal?

QUESTION: does anyone know where to get an hfp suspension kit in Canada? Would the dealers carry it (probably not the best price..)

I was looking on eBay and I've found only a couple sources in the states, with the added shipping costs and most likely customs charges.

Keep searching in Canada.

Actually, you would want to decrease rear camber and increase front camber to increase tire wear. The fronts will wear the outside edge of the tire and the rears will wear the inside.

On the Honda website you can get "SPORT SUSPENSIONS" for the civic, are these HFP?

Camber bolts 4 front, new adjustable arms in the rear. This all seems so old school. I mean nothin new created here. If I were a talented guy with resources I'd come up with a way to have adjustable settings for the camber with the flip of a switch inside the cockpit. Hydraulic, pneumatic, electric or mechanical. Must be a way.

It was out lawed in F1 in 1992, so, it seems, development of adjustable suspensions was put on the back burner.

Hi all,

I just picked up my 07 SI FA5 a couple of weeks ago and can't wait to start the modding. Since I do track days, the suspension and brake mods are going to be the first things I tackle. From what I understand, the HFP's are the way to go. I am all about performance and not looks here. Short of spending a couple of g's, the HFP's look pretty tight, at least until the Koni's come out? No other options, right? Would I need an alignment after the HFP's are installed? If yes, what should I tell the tech as to what specs I would want?

The progress sway bar seems to be the one everyone uses.

As for brakes, from what I have read it is just pads and fluid right?

After that it comes down to rubber.

Read the very first post on this thread. That should answer a lot of your questions. HighRev1 knows what he is talking about.

I have setup my car to his specs and am loving it every day. I have HFP suspension and F&R camber kit. I have them set up to -.9 in rear and -1.4 in front. After you get your suspension installed you want to do an alignment. At this point have them set the camber. Also you should look at getting new tires first. The stock ones are no good.

As for swaybars I do not have one but it is on the list of things to do. Progress is probably the one I am going to go with.

For brake upgrades most people think our stock brakes are good enough. I know HFP offers a brake upgrade but I believe it is overpriced. Good luck and enjoy your car.

what is the optimum ride height for my si. great handling and preformance. its dumped right now, but i have a feeling that i may need to raise her up for handling. i also have a skunk 2 camber kit in the rear. how many threads should i be showing for optimal ride preformance?

Around 1.5 in drop is about all she'll take. As far as threads on the rear camber arms, let the amount of negative camber you want to run dictate that.

Wow great thread! my head feels heavy after craming all this info! im getting my 08 Si 4dr monday...and after reading this...i ll stick to oem and get to know the car so i can see what i want to improve for my driving style in the future! now i understand camber and how important it is. Great sticky, i've learned a ton!!! I'm taking my 08 si sedan in next week for a realignment based on this thread...I'm planning on -1.75 in the front and a -1.25 in the rear..I have a rear camber kit(spc) and front camber bolts...Also i'm dropped about 1.5" all around(tein basics)....Also will have progress rear sway bar on at that time...Do you think that is too agressive of a set up??...Car is my DD but I enjoy pushing the car in and out of corners......
