If looks are more important to you than handling, just save the money and get springs. If you want better handling, get the HFP kit.

I want both...great handling AND great looks...I don't wanna be drivin around in a car that looks great but drives like shit...especially a brand new car. Maybe I'll have to wait for the Koni setup to drop like many are doing.

You cant over lower these cars to get the look you want anyway because if you do, the handling will become worse.

right.. HFP was not low enough for my taste.(just about a inch drop.)


oh! one more thing!
I think its cornering and handling is better than Tein SS.
I have Tein now.. but.. I'm not really satisfied with this.




lately I am considering going back to HFP..

and maybe later I'll try Tein Flex..

BAH Teins blow my Nut sack....With that said I would take an Off the shelf Koni product over a Teinproduct even the "BEST" Tein product any day of the week..I know a guy who has an 8th that got rid of 2 sets of Teins to get a nice Koni setup it tells you somthing... First that the guy is smart and second that no matter what the Teins will NEVER be as good as a true Piecemealed setup..

HFP I would say IS better than just throwing springs on your car...They have match dampers to the springs and you know that they can control the ocilations that the springs produce..But..even better would be a NICE koni damper.

Yes, as stated before, i am that that 8th member that has gotten rid of 2 different types of tein, SS and Flex and am now waiting on RSM Coilovers with Koni dampers. Wait for the koni's to come come out. In the mean time, get new sticky tires, and 4 camber bolts for the front and max out - camber and that should be good for handling at the moment.

Revy isn't fond of any of the shelf springs. He is more fond of springs that you can choose the rate like the ones Ground Contol makes. That way, you get ride hight adjustable springs and kick ass adjustable koni's (when they get here) and that will out handle any Tein poop and you can get the "look" you want.

arn't GC manufactured by eibach? skunk2 also has diffrent spring rates/sizes that you can order for around 50 doll-hairs a pop, the tokicos arn't ajustable right?

GC uses eibach springs...And the TOK's are non adjustable...also GC knows their SHizz...I would stick with them...

I didn't know Tein was that bad... I still believe Tein is the best "coilover".
what I'm trying to say was, Tein SS was not my type.


Koni has gas leakage problem commonly.. well tein doesn't.
and it's only 3 level height adjustment.
of course, Koni Yellows are best shocks for overall but there are cars that doesn't work well as the others.

since 8th gen civics and csx are so new, someone has to find best suspension setting for these cars.
I think it's kind of early to say which is best or worst.


we know that most popular springs are made by Eibach or H&R,
shok - Koni
coilover - Tein
(surely there are more manufactures!)

but.. only problem is that we didn't find what will fit to 8th gens well and to taste of most people.



settings i tried for mine so far:

1. HFP kits - best handling, cornering(so far now) / (kind of) hard stiffness hurts my back.

2. HFP shocks & H&R springs(sports) - worse handling, cornering than HFP but better than oem / soft ride (harder than oem but almost same) / great looking but when you go faster car gets even lower so that it cause rubbing issue.(with 18", 225-40 tires, wheel house and tires rubed.) / I think spring rates vary from upper part to middle and to down.. nice springs but weren't my taste.

3.Tein Coilovers - worse handling, cornering than HFP, but better than HFP & H&R combi / height & damping adjustable so I could build close setting that I wanted / If Tein SS were not height adjustable, I wouldn't stick to.. because I want stiffer ride.


nowadays for me,
1. if there are lower springs that come with same rate as HFP springs, those will be my taste for a while..
2. Teins with more safe structer and harder spring rate.
3. H&R with 1/4 inch (or less) higher and harder spring rate.


I'm gonna go back to HFP for a while.. and then gonna think about other settings for my poor si coupe.

oh... and Teins are actually long-stroke type(it means if lower your car, you cannot tell how amazing teins are...) so don't go too low with teins.
so does HFP, I think, and... most of them.

short-stroke types are for race cars(track! not street)...
