Exclamation Need help with Progress Rear Sway*Added PICS*

OK, I have been having problems with my recently installed rear sway. When I go into driveways or shopping centers I get a POP! CLUNK! sound from the rear-end. I posted this b4 but didn't get much (no offense to anyone that responded to the previous post). Today I took it back to my friends work ( ford dealership) as he was the guy that installed it. When we got it up on the lift I could distinctively (spell check plz) see a gap in the bushings and stoppers on the bar. It was in the correct position but I cannot figure out why there is a gap.

I looked for a DIY but only found one for an Si install, but it seemed about the same thing we did to install. I didn't take off the end links and attach the bar, I took the old one off then positioned the new one to the end links(would this cause any issues? I just can't figure out what is missing from my install compared to the MANY people that have this on their ride with no problems. ANY help or advice would be great!

I'm out of ideas...

EDIT: took some pics when I got home from work... please tell me this thing is on wrong or something cause I'm getting pretty frustrated here.

Pic of the gap, drivers side(until it slides over)

Passanger side, no gap but you can see in the grease how it's moving back and forth

Bar on the end-link(not sure what side)

Another one
Sorry these are all at wierd angles but I had to lay on the ground and just hold the cam up under there
If u need to see pics of other parts of the sway bar or whatever under there post it up and I'll get on it, I just need confirmation this thing is on right (but hoping its not because I dont know what else could be wrong)
THANKS ALL!

sounds like the bolts holding the bar to the endlinks is loose. I tried taking off my OEM one and loosened them just barely before the bolt started spinning. I didn't know about the allen key part. So I rolled around for 3 days before getting more time to do it right. Now that it's swapped out, it's allll good. I say check connections. Muscles FTW!

All hardware is tight...im so confused. There is only one position the bushings can mount. Do you fully replace the stock bushings? Am I supposed to leave any stock pieces?(around the bushings/mounts)
any way it could be the wrong bar? Bought in during the last Z1performance group buy(doubt it)

If your endlinks and your bar mounting brackets are tight. Is the bar on upside down by chance? This happens occasionally and may be the source of your noise.

I hope this helps.

I was thinking the same thing. Believe it or not, this is quite common.

The bar is in the correct position, I have looked at the pics on the DIY/instructions and was under my car yesterday at my friends work. When standing under the front of the car looking to the rear(while on the lift) you can see a gap between the stopper portion of the sway bar and the bushings, about 1/4 in on both sides or if you slide it to on side looks about 1/2 in(duh). The noise is deff. the bar sliding from one stoppper to the next and going "thud!"
Any more suggestions, I'm open to anything...

Is it happening at all speeds? Does it happen under light or heavy cornering? Are you sure it's the sway bar? Have you had anyone stand by (walk next) to you while driving slowly to see if you can recreate? Can you recreate it at will?

Just a couple questions. :-)

If I go into a driveway or shopping center it will do it while my rear end is going over the hump area. If I make a hard turn to one side, lets say right, then the next turn in the oppostite dircetion will create the thud/popping noise. I never had any noise from my rear end until the day I put the bar on. The bushing are just not flush with the stoppers on the bar.
I wish I wouldv'e had my digi cam with me to take some pics for you guys...

Sounds like it might be sliding almost. Take a marker and mark the position stopped. Make a turn and then stop. Check the mark and see if it's changed.

Deff. sliding inbetween the stoppers at each end. this sucks
It is not touching/hitting anything around the exhaust or springs.

does the same bar work for the SI and non-SI? Mine hasn't had a problem yet.

If you can post pics that'd be a big help. Aside from a few people installing the bar upside down, I'm not sure what the problem could be. The progress bar should have it's own brackets and bushings and you re-use the stock end-links.

The revised progress bars fit R18's and SI's (coupe and sedans) so I couldn't imagine it being the wrong bar.

Looks like you have the ability to work on your car quickly. Re-install your oem sway bar and see if you still have the problem. If you do not, go to DIY and get pictures of the installation. I to think you have installed up side down.

Yea I though of something like that but why would my car be the only one around here that has this issue. There should be no reason I have to go find a solution, the part is made for our cars. I should have pics up this evening to let you guys see how it is in there.

Thanks for everyone thats lending a helping hand in this...
