it's on upside down!!! Look at the angles before the bushings from the endlinks. Also look at the way it's angled upwards to the exhaust piping. It's upside down bro. Swap it and call it good.

well you are in luck I had the same problem and fixed it a few months back. What you need to do it this :
1. go to a hardware store and buy 4 long bolts that are just small enough in diameter to fit in the threaded holes that you mount your brackets to. They should be long enough to pass completely through and have about an inch to a half inch sticking out the other side and small enough diameter wise so that they don have to be screwed in. 2. buy a bunch of washers and a few lock washers, sized for the bolts. Also 4 nuts for the bolts 3. remove the 4 stock bolts holding the 2 brackets that hold up the bar. 4. run the new bolts through the holes placing washers and lock washers on both sides and hope your bolts are not to long so as to run into other shit. 5. Tighten the balls out of your new bolts With this setup you bar will no longer be bolted to the car but squeezed onto the car. I have been running this setup for months now with out any squeeks. |

Strange. I had a Progress rear bar on my subaru wagon, but I didn't have this problem. It seems that I've heard of other people having the shifting of the bar issue before and I thought that they put some type of clamps on either side of the mounting points and it cured it.
I don't think you should have to do that, though....I'd probably pull the bar back off and try reinstalling it. Cam |

I installed mine upside down, and I think yours is upside down too. If you're on your back, looking up at the sway bar, the ends should curve AWAY from the exhaust, not towards it. I can clearly see in pic #3 that the bar is curving towards the car. It should curve towards the ground. |

So I went and flipped my bar to the correct position and all seems well. Thanks to everyone that helped out!
I did have a question...The gap that was inbetween the bushings and stoppers is still there (but not sliding around anymore) I took measurments of the distance between the stoppers and then between the bushings. These are out in my car at the moment but can get them when I take a break (at work right now). I really just want to make sure this gap is supposed to be there. I need peace of mind i suppose BTW the ride feels much better now that the bar is on correctly :) |

I installed an Acura RSX-S (21mm) rear sway bar on my friends 01 Civic and we were getting poping sounds like you described. I checked it out and the bolts that hold down the brackets in the middle that hold the bar were loose. I tightened it up no more noise. Try using Loc-Tight on the bolts.

Do u think that if u install the sway bar upside down and u go over bumps making te clunk noise that you actually bend the control arms?? (Not sure if that's what they're called)
But regardless.. Whatever its bumping against... Somethings bending out of shape right??? |
