need a little suspension help
hey i just ordered the hfp kit as a whole and it includes the lowering springs. ive hear that is is an amazing differencefrom stock. im just a little confused about struts, sway bars, and that h bar. i mean what do each of them do and would any of you recommend these for a daily driver? and any brands you would recommend. i am a total noob at this, and ive never heard of an h bar til i saw it on a couple cars on here. thanks

Those other parts really tighten up the body of the car. They reduce body roll going around corners and whatnot. The suspension would drop your car, give you a stiffer ride, and lower the center of gravity a bit, and if you add those other parts on top of that, you'd have some solid handling! Theoretically at least.
That's my plan. I decided not to go performance (engine-wise) and just spend an extra 1k or so on suspension and parts that will let me take hairpins while sipping my steaming hot coffee. |

Keep in mind though that it is possible to make a car too stiff. If this happens the car (front wheel drive, ala a civic) will terminaly understeer and actually be slower around corners. Suspension tuning must be a carefull balancing act between too stiff/too low and too soft/too high. That being said, the Si chassis is very well set up (I have one :) so any si suspension componants should work fine. Sway bars are a great way to stiffen a car's feel without spending too much.

If I recall correctly, someone posted about how modifying the sways on a non-Si is a bad move. I mean, I don't think it's THAT detrimental, but he/she had some good logic behind the words...
