I do have better tires on there already; 215/45/17.... You guys also talked about "unsprung weight" in the front... Do you really think the hfp brakes are gonna be that heavy??

HFP is Honda Factory Performance... we all know that. well, that means oem quality. The oem Civic Si front rotors are 11.8" in diameter and weigh 6 more pounds than my 10.3" oem Civic LX front rotors.
I say the HFP rotors will be the same as the Si ones, in terms of weight if they are the same size.
Maybe they dropped half a pound from each rotor by slotting them?

Are the HFP rotors any larger in diameter than the oem civic Si rotors? I think they are just slotted.

It would extremely hard to use larger rotors in calipers designed for the OEM size rotors w/o new mounting brackets.

I'm talking about quality of the rubber, not size. You could buy better quality tires for the OEM 16" wheels and be way better off than using heavier Si-sized wheels and tires with something like the shitty OEM Michelin A/S tires. Actually, with 60 fewer horsepower and smaller brakes, you probably should've gone that route.

I would have invested appx. 800 dollars in a brake setup. Bigger and slotted rotors, Bigger calipers, bigger everything it seems. So, after reading this thread I am under the impression that I would invest 800 dollars in a braking system that is actually WORSE than before, due to the ABS? If I changed EVERYTHING (like I am planning to do) with my brakes, (Not just the front like Andrei'sCivic did) would it be better?

So questions are:
1. Would my braking system (stopping distance and that stuff) get worse with the new brake setup?
2. I would be changing all 4 brakes, not just the front two, so shouldnt that make up the difference between the two? (Andrei'sCivic only changed the front two)
3. How would my braking effectiveness differ between lighter braking (non-ABS braking) and heavy braking (ABS engaged)

I still need these 3 Q's answered! Any help??
1) Well if you swap everything, the braking distance would be better (that is, if Si's braking distance is better than EX--which I presume it is)

2) Not only would you need to change all four brakes, but you'd probably need to change the brake master cylinder, if it's different on the Si.

3) Braking effectiveness differ between Si and non-Si? Not sure what you're comparing here. When I talk about braking effectiveness, I mean at the limit. In light braking, performance stays the same--the only difference is how much pedal distance and feel.
