Question to all peeps who installed Progress Sway Bar.

i sliced open the rubber area of the link (as pictured w/ arrow) while i was loosening the nut.
just trying to get an opinion or two as to whether its a big deal or should i be worried about it...
what does the rubber do anyways?

thanks guys.
