Quality of all suspensions.
I've been searching posts on suspensions to see what I should buy, but I haven't read descriptions regarding specific suspension/springs that describe them beyond "rides great". I was wondering if you guys could give a semi-detailed description of the ride quality you observed after changing the suspension set up in your car compared to stock. What did you get?Was the ride stiffer/softer/same? did it lower the car by the advertised measurement? would you change your decision if you had to do it again?
I just thought it would be helpful to have a thread that compares the different options giving the pros/cons for those that are thinking of making a purchase soon. Thanks for your help! |

Tein SS coilovers
Definite change from stock suspension. I believed the stock suspension was already stiff itself, but this adds some stiffness for sure. It's still a nice ride, more than enough comfort for day to day driving. I had it dropped quite a bit prior to the winter months and it rode pretty darn nice. I have probably a 1-1.5" drop right now and it sits just right. Obviously the ride height is adjustable. The rears are harder to adjust than the fronts just due to how the suspension sits. IMHO Car handles like a dream, the only thing holding me back is the rubber on the pavement. Hardly any body roll on the middle dampening setting. I set it to the full-stiffness of the suspension and it was really carving the road. Like I said, the Nitto Neo-Gens are the only failure point now. Set it to the softest setting and it is pretty close to stock, most driving situations will be pretty similar. If you get into a bumpy or otherwise 'less-smooth' situation you might notice it a little more. I have yet to notice a single squeak or rattle from the suspension so far (I've had it for 6 months now). I love the setup, if you aren't looking for adjustable dampening you could go with the Tein Basics (yeah, I'm a fan of Tein at the moment). I had a shock and spring setup on my 96 GSR and the overall difference between that setup and coilovers is very obvious to me. I don't think I will ever go with anything but a full coilover setup from this point on. my $.02 I should just copy and paste this info every time someone asks for a suspension opinion. :) |

Megan Racing Coil-Overs are the ones I have, they also have the pillowball upper mounts that the Teins don't have. They're the shit, no body roll, perfect drop, and they barely make any squeaks either. A little bouncy but I'm used to it. Great Coils I would recommend to anybody, pm me if you have any more questions.
