Anyone has the Buddy Club Coilovers

I just noticed that Buddy Club has launched their N+ coilovers for our cars (I'm probably the last one that found out about this... but oh well). I'd really like to know if anyone has it on their car right now and would like to share their thoughts/input regarding the coilovers? Thanks!

Oh yeah! I went on the Buddy Club website and I couldn't find the specs on these coilovers... like how much is the drop, spring rates, etc. I contacted ClubRSX and they are not 100% sure about the specs, they just said it's probably similar to the N+ coilovers for the RSX. Anyone?

If you are serious about trying to get competitive in Autox stay away from any of the "pre-built" coliover products.

"See, of all the parts your buying that come with a pre-built "coilover" the damper is by far the most important and most expensive piece. And this is where my dislike of "pre-builts" comes from. See, in order to lower costs, they end up using dampers of a more primitive design. you'll notice that most if not all use dampers that adjust both their bump valving and rebound valving with one knob. There's a reason for this, as dampers of this sort are easier to design and manufactur (theres only one set of Valve stacks that need to be turned with the adjuster, Vs ones where you only adjust rebound that have two sets of valve stacks, one that gets alterd by the adjustment knob and one that doesnt). Great for the company as they can sell their "coilovers" for less, bad for tuners because you now have an inferior damper. Granted, these types of dampers will satisfy the needs of your every day street tuner. but for use in compitition..... they hamper your ablity to properly tune the car. Note that this doesnt just go for Megan's and other inexpensive "Coilovers", Tein, BC AND JIC are guilty of such pratices too. not to mention the valving adjustment range tends to be very limited with the "cheep" coilovers.

So, for street cars... sure pre-built coilovers work perfectly fine, statisfy the needs of the consumer and are convieniant."

So Highrev1, do have any suggestions on improving the performance of the Si's suspension? Do you recommend just buying stiffer springs and better struts/shocks? Thanks

Personally I almost always run Koni's with Ground Controls. Why? Adjustment. The adjustment in a koni is absoutly amazing and it is a sweep for their adjustment not clicks, and it only adjusts Rebound, more than enough adjustment for the average person. Then I run the Ground control due to the adjustability in ride height for corener weighting and getting cross weights correct. And So I can change spring rates easily and reltivly inexpesivly. I also know the springs will be easy to get they are just an eibach spring and Ground control tends to have most the of the rates instock. Also Ground control uses linear springs allowing for the spring rate to stay the same unlike a progressive rate spring that changes rates as it compresses.


"For example when a company promotes the # of adjustment "clicks" on their dampers as a feature, with out posting a dynograph of the adjustment range of that damper.... well its time to start questioning why. Because "32 way adjustible" really tells me squat about the damper other then it is suposidly adjustible. It doesnt tell me what gets adjusted, it doesnt tell me the range in which those things get adjusted in. Basically, them saying its 32 way adjustible is about as usefull as them telling you they use metal in building their suspensions... METAL!!!! Because metal is much more usefull then nonmetal stuff when makeing suspensions dont ya think?" Just an example of my idea with the konis you know what adjustment range you get there are awesome shock dynos on them all over and they almost ALWAYs win over the pre-built ones. I will find the slide show for you.

Thank you for the great write up Highrev1! I heard a lot of good things about the Koni/Ground Control setup from other autox guys too. But Koni and Ground Control don't have products launched for our cars yet, right?

I don't see the specs on these ground controls... are they height adjustable? Are these for street or track use? Do you happen to know... if not I'll just call them.

They are height adjustable. And you can specifiy which spring rate you wnat if you want a track spring rate, or a street spring rate. A buy for thesse will be listed later today :)

$349 each.. that's $1,396.00 for the whole set. These are just adjustable springs, right? Or does the Koni shocks come with it? Is there a specific spring rate that you would recommend for every or every other weekend autocrossing/daily driving application? I don't mind a rough ride.

So is this a sleeve type coilover, or just a lowering spring? Meaning it slides over the shock body and allows you to change your ride height? Without pictures or a description of the product it is hard to tell.
