installed hfp suspension

Just completed installing my HFP Sport Suspension Kit on my EX Coupe ASM with a buddy of mine who did most of the work. It took about three hours to finish the job by following the instructions provided by Honda. Honda started by telling you to use a lift. We used jack stands, took our time, and we did not have any problems. It looks like the car has been lowered about an inch. This is the best aftermarket parts kit I've ever installed. Last three cars were a 99, 03, and 05 Mustangs. Kudo's to Honda. Then we put on new 17" HFP wheels with General UHP 225/45-17 tires. WOW ! Hope to have pictures soon. One thing we noticed after being under the car was how small the oem sway bars look. My buddy called them "banjo strings". So next suspension mod will be a SI front and rear sway bars. We figure that install will take no more than a couple of hours at best.

Sweet. I was thinking about buying the HFP kit but didn't know if I could justify the price. How does it feel differently? DO you feel performance increases?

Yes. I will take it out in the morning to some winding country roads and set it through it's paces. This kit does two things 1. Improves the handling with stiffer springs and dampening to match and lowers the center of gravity about an inch. 2. If you just put good lowering springs on, they will cost around $200+ to your door. Down side, most people can't change strut springs themselves. I don't know how much that cost. I paid $541 to my door for my kit.

Well, I had a good workout for my new suspension in the Texas hill country west of Austin Sunday morning. The car responses were noticeably better in all types of turns (flat, camber and off camber). The term "on a rail" comes to mind. I'm no road racer but I really had fun and with the combination of 17" wheels and 225/45-18 tires (any advice on tire pressure) it was stable and no chatter with my novice level of driving. Once back in town, the car shows some signs of stiffness on rough city streets which should be expected. I am very pleased with the performance. It seems to me the improvement is worth the money. The only other suspension mod I'm adding will be front and rear SI sway bar upgrade and I'll be "good to go" Autocrossing.

Paid $541 including shipping. You can find them on eBay $600 or less. Try calling 888-236-5839 DCHautomotiveparts and talk to Mike. Tell him Jay Kincannon suggested you call. DIY It took 4 hours. The instructions from Honda are easy to follow, but any shop that does shocks/struts (Midus, etc.) Can do the installation for you $250-$300 range.

How far is the drive to the US? Find somebody in the US that can do the install and send the parts to them. Have the suspension installed in the US, fill your tank with our cheaper gas and drive back home. No one at the border will know the difference.

I dont get why people spend all this $$ on "stock" parts basically, yeah i know there Honda PERFORMANCE parts, but just think you can spend a lil more and get about double the performance out of an aftermarket set of teins or skunk2's just my .47 cents

I dunno if its worth it
I mean... at least 10-12 hours drive
hundreds of dollars on gas there and back
...
just doesn't seem like it would be any cheaper in the end haha

Sorry, I did not know far it was to US. I have friends who live in eastern Canada and that's what they do.

I know I have said this on other threads. Warranty. I had a previous car with aftermarket mods and had warranty repairs turned down and I am not going thru that again. Besides I like the Honda stuff and I will bet most of the aftermarket parts used on a Honda are not used to their maximum designed use by 50% or more of the people that install them. I'm not going to spend thuosands of $$$$$ to make my car better than the next guy. (dismount soap box)

Are you asking how it rides? Great in my opinion. When I first drove the car, it felt a little stiff. After a week or so I don't even notice anything unless I'm on a really bad road. With my last car (03 Mustang GT) I spent four times as money for the same ride. Once I add the SI upgrade front and rear sway bar I think I'll be be "good to go"
