Break pad life

Anyone know how long our breaks are supposed to last?

I'm also getting disappointed with my car's stopping power. It's no longer instantaneous . I do have full break fluid so that's not the problem.

Whats a good rule of thumb? 40,000 km? I have 17 now.

I was wondering the same thing. I have 16,000 miles on mine and I checked them last week. They were a little better than half worn in the front and they do feel softer than new

My wifes FA1 got 17k out of the front pads then I had to change them.
My FG2 had 24k on it, when I upgraded my brakes with new pads and rotors all the way around. When I removed the factory brakes the old pads had half left..

Brake wear is an entirely subjective thing dependent upon the driver and their habits. I've never taken a car of mine in for any brake work. One I had for 65K miles...but I know people that have brakes squealing and in the shop every 10-15K miles. **shrugs**

I'm guessing that's in miles?

Well since my location is SOCAL you'd be correct. We still reject the Metric system here in the US.
