aftermarket springs w/ stock struts ?

For every other car ive owned i was told not to put aftermarket springs with stock struts. every other car forum has told me that it will wear out the struts in 5 - 10k miles. I've noticed alot of people on here just throwing springs on there cars with stock struts. I also know that there really isnt an option at the moment for a aftermarket strut. It makes no sense that all these companies are making springs and no one is making any aftermarket struts yet. i guess coilovers or hfp is the safest way to go.

I have 12,000 on my Tein S-Techs and stock struts and no problems at all. Feel just as good as the day I got it home except it handles alot better :)

personally i'd never do it, that's my own opinion. They will blow out prematurely, it's just a matter of when.

If and when that happens, I'll replace them with the HFP shocks

Explain to me the reasoning to me as to why the stock struts would wear out with say a 1" drop. There are many rumors in the automotive industry. More ar false than true. Like the idea that a big ricey spioler actually does something.

pretty sure its more then a rumor ive seen many threads on other car forums of people blowing out there struts early because of lowering springs.

I had the pro kit on my last car a nissan and I put them on 3 months after I got it brand new and then sold it back three and a half years later and the stockers where just a as good as first day. As long as there is enough travel for the shock during compression they should last long especially Honda. I wouldnt recommend a really agressive drop 1.5in and up

Anybody have the Progress Springs? I am getting their Rear Sway bar and was thinking getting their springs to match.
Or should I just save up for the HFP kit?

Thats true, the shocks will last if you drive it normally. Which mean, no autoX, and other stuff. Just drive it how you would drive your mom's car then your shocks would last really long.

Tom I have the Progress Springs and Sways... In a box in my room. They are going on next Friday. I will let you know how I like them. It seems like a lot of guys here do not have them and I could not figure out why. I wanted to be slightly different than the rest. The spring rates are more racey than the eibach kit and Tein springs well... people love or hate them and it seems like so many have them that I did not want them. HFP is not enough of a drop for me. Skunk2 springs is too much and people say they squeek. Progress FTW (even though they are not on yet haha)

Thanks for the input. I am looking forward to your review and thoughts

I did order the Progress Sway Bar and it should be here anytime now and I just bought a set of Brand New HFP Springs from someone here at the Forum.
He went with another set of springs with his dampers and let me have the springs at a very cheap price. I will put them on and see if they do the trick.
