Nasty popping from the front right on my lowered Si?

Well the noise is back. It went away for a while and now has come back and gotten worse.

What will happen is the car will make a VERY loud and VERY nasty popping sound which is becoming very common, now. This happens during the following:

Hard shift from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd when I might get a little wheelspin. Happens EVERY TIME.

Letting off the gas after hard 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd acceleration. Happens intermittently.

When turning to the right or to the left at a fairly sharp rate (i.e. to take a 45 degree turn). Happens intermittently.

I'm going to get the car in the air and, once again, double check everything. It never popped when I turned until now, so that is a new symptom. The last time this started happening a couple of months ago I double checked everything and everything was nice and tight.

Any other ideas as to what this may be? I never had this problem until the Tein S-Tech's were installed on the car. The right and left side springs were matched with the right and left side strut towers and everything was bolted up and tightened down so that it was nice and secure.

At this point I just want this issue to go away. I'm afraid to get on the gas at all, anymore, for fear that this nasty-ass noise will scare me yet again.

Thanks in advance.

is it like a creaking noise..if so its the s-tech making noise...some how when i turn my car..it makes that noise also..the springs that's poping..i made a thread about the problem with the s-tech and some of the members have the same problem but they got used to it.. try turning the springs and flat it out.. s-tech sucks!!!even though i have it on my car..

Sounds like the strut bearing may be out of place or damaged to me. Take it out and make sure it is still smooth to turn.

You know, my stock suspension does that. Popping on the right front. It happens when I go over a speed bump and when I corner really hard. I feel like it's the spring or the sway bar end link. I'll bet this is common on these cars. Anybody else with this problem?

Sounds like a CV joint possibly?
I'm just saying b/c it is not that hard to damage a cv joint if you put your springs on yourself. If a shop did I hope they didn't mess it up!

My car makes the thud sound on the right front when i hit bumps and rough terrain, but I don't think we have the same problem. Mine's been covered under a TSB, I just haven't gotten it done yet.

welcome to the club ...
i have it to ...
exactly like u so i don't have to explain ...
i've been through hell and back checking on it ... nothing ca be found ...
my axel has even been removed to check it and still nothing ...

again it's exactly like urs ... except i don't get anything on turning ... the turning part is usually associated with not having pillow ball upper mounts and spring movement

oh and i don't think it has anything to do with lowering ... i had it from before the drop ... that is the popping on hard shifts.

me and u are not the only ones ... there's 2 people (can't recall their names) on honda-tech with the said issue...

again i've done everything i could to find it, honda dealers(2), ajp, and myself and nothing shows up ...

PM me if u find anything.

Actually, a lot has happened since this was originally posted. RWatters' car has been smashed & he's hoping it will get totaled by the insurance company. No helping the poping now...

Guys I have the same noise happen to me on the shift from 1-2. My car is stock and it was very scary. For sure its not the springs. I think it is something to do with the engine moving in the bay.

u are right ... it's the engine moving ... it's causing ur upper mount to move and sometimes the lower one will pop as well but the upper is usually the cause ...

get an ingalls TD ... available right now

Maybe later, hasn't happened in a while. The only time it happened my friend was driving my car so I was able to clearly hear where it came from.

Sup guys, just to let you know i do beleive its the s-techs. I got them in not too long ago and the noise started ever since they were put in. I just got used to it, for me it only happens when i have to park and turn my wheel far to the left or to the right.

I have the Megan coils and about 6 months after having them is when I'm getting a popping sound from front right ONLY when I turn left or right, but I heard that all I need to do is grease it up and it'll go away.

just got my stechs intalled last sunday and the next day i felt them pop whenever i turn the wheel reversing from a parking spot at any level or unlevel pavement. was i supposed to leave the brown rubber thing on the bottom of the front springs and put the stock(black) rubber thing over it??? cuz i took the brown rubber thing off and put the the stock ones on...could that be causing the springs to pop when i turn the wheel? its really annoying.. but i LOVE how the drop looks on my Si
