Progress Technology

I am not sure if this is old news or new, but looks like Progress Technologies has a 30mm front anti roll bar out for the si. You guys think that it would be a worthwhile investment if buying the rear sway bar? Looks like they can both be had for $280 shipped.

$145.35 Isn't too bad. If this performs anything like the rear does then it will be a good investment. Heres the link http://www.progressauto.com/store/pr...roducts_id=380 Don't we have a progress vendor on here???

After doing some research on suspension pieces and tuning, it looks as though having both on at the same time would actually harm handling. Might be better to just have the rear. The stock front sway is 28mm and the rear is 17mm. Stiffness of the sway bar increases almost by a power of 4 each mm you go higher. Having a sway bar too stiff in the front could cause the following:

Terminal understeer, Lifts inside front tire off the ground which can cause massive wheelspin, also not good for most effective tire usage as inside wheel is now doing nothing.

This right here is a great site for suspension information, even if its not specifically for the civic:

Thats interesting, I never knew you could have two stiff of a suspension. Anyone here ever run a similar set up on another other cars. Stiffer front and rear sway bars??? What were the results. My Si handles like its on rails now I dont want to ruin that. If I could make it better than I am all in.

My previous post cut out this important caveat: I AM NO SUSPENSION EXPERT. Take everything i saw with a grain of salt......I am all for making the si handle better than stock, not worse. But yes i was amazed by some of the information on that website. There are just too many variables in suspension tuning.

I think he races stock class and this won't be a stock bar.

I would be in if a group buy is still going on for the rear sway bar. I am not convinced that I need the front one anymore. Geez, I guess i just hijacked my own thread :).

I did the sensible thing and sent them an email to see if this was designed or recommended to work with their rear bar. I also asked if they recommend it together with their coil-overs when they are released in March. Should have an answer later this morning - they're pretty good that way..

I am going to assume that they will say yes. There wasn't a note on their website that said these two items shouldn't be used together. Could these two pieces make your car handle better? Sure. Would it be a worthwhile investment? Maybe. While speaking to my bud that autox's his ITR, he advised against getting the front sway bar. He had his reasons, all of which were confirmed by what the website link i provided said. I don't want to discourage anyone else from buying these though, its not my decision to make.

isn't the lx/ex/dx front sway a better fit for the si when you get the thicker progress rear sway?? that was my understanding, unless the lx/ex/dx is infact thicker itself...

Update, per Progress:

"David,

All of our parts for the 06+ Civics are designed to work great
together. Unfortunately, the coil-over kits and the front anti-sway bars have yet to hit production.

Thanks,

Joey Berry"

That might actually be possible....the stock front sway bar for the lx/ex/dx is 25.4mm i believe.

I was thinking of getting into the autox scene here in my area. We have numerous events held here near me at the US BMW factory in Spartanburgh, SC. I will probably compete stock for a bit then slowly add pieces once i get more comfortable, just so i can appreciate the difference these parts make.
